Container Help

I was hoping someone could help me out. I have been trying to make containers on the attached flipchart page. Most of the items get contained, but I have a few that keep getting rejected and I don't know why. I did the same thing for each container box. :( Any help would be appreciated!

Hi Heather - Sounds like we're spending the day inthe same way! :) There are several things you can try. Try changing the value of "Container center tolerance" under "Flipchart Objects" in the Activstudio Settings menu. If that doesn't work, make the container larger. Choose "Enclose Object" instead of "Match Centers" for the "Contain rule" in the object edit box for the container.

Heather, Cappie is right, your container needs to be a bit bigger then the object you want to contain. Als make sure you are in the right mode when working things out.

Thank you both for your help! I increased the sized and changed the Container Center Tolerance and it works. One question though, what is the Container Center Tolerance? I changed it, but have no idea whether I changed it for the better! :D

what is the Container Center Tolerance?

This defines how close the centre of the dropped object needs to be from the centre of the container when the Container property has been set to 'Match Centres'.

The Centre Tolerance value is in pixels. The bigger the value the less accurate you need to be with dropping the object on the container. If the value is zero, the dropped object has to be exactly on the centre of the container for it to stick.

Just wanted a quick how-to. I played around w/ it a little tonight, and there has to be an easier way. I figured a short how-to would be great. I am just a little frustrated right now because I haven't figured it out yet. I spent over an hour trying to get three words to stick and still haven't got them yet.

Hi Brian,

I've attached a flipchart I created to give a brief overview of containers, including specific examples. Be sure to check the page notes on each page, as they give you step-by-step instructions on how to create the exercises. There are also pages on restrictors and a brief page about additional object actions.

Bonus! I've also included the giraffe page about which you inquired on another thread. Look in the page notes for instructions on how to recreate it.

By the way, are you now able to see all of the resources in your library? If so, why do I still see "With limited v3 library" on your signature? clwn

Thank you. I check the FC's out and they were not always working. So I went into design mode and back into presentation mode and then they seemed to be working.

I also noticed about identifying objects with the words not at the actual object, but underneath. Maybe this had something to do with my problem yesterday.

When I double click on an object and hit the properties all I get is Identification, Position and Appearance options...
What am I not doing right? Why does it not have the container option?

It sounds like you are probably still working in version 2.5. If you're unsure, go to the main menu, and scroll down to help, then choose about. Here you will see the version number you are working with.

If you go to Promethean's web site, you can download version 3 at no cost using your current serial number.
