Hi +wave+
Not wishing to be openly pushing product at you here :D - but have you seen, or has anyone bought the additional templates pack? They are really super and well worth the money - I think they will be a welcome addition to any network especially for those teachers who struggle to get started ...[clap]

I was looking at mine the other day. Love the Magnetic letters page! It would fit in perfectly with Early Literacy. The other one I really like is the Time Line page... lots of potential there. I also like the traffic lights for personal assessment and the....... Oh to be honest they are alll great and have there uses.
I like the way that it allows you to build flipcharts very quickly that present very well. It means that I don't have to spend hours thinking of colours to use, font sizes, layouts, how much to put on pages etc.
Oh I forgot to mention the star chart and smilie face charts. The group points charts are also extremely useful. All things that I used to spend hours creating from card when I was in the classroom!

I have been playing around with the templates but still haven't looked at them all yet!! Like Jan I can see lots of use for the fridge magnets template in the phonics and word tools page but is there any chance please of anyone providing the same page but with all the letters nice and straight!!?? {}
I know I could do it myself but I'd rather look at more templates!! ;)

Whilst I've been looking how about changing the colours on the Connect 4 template so that they are far more different (ie not red and orange but something more like red and blue) - could someone do that too?
Ok - I'm off to explore some others!!

Back again!!
Hope this is helpful to the software developers but I have found a few errors on the templated within the Higher Order Questioning folder - some of the descriptions (file names) do not match the templates displayed e.g. see the 4th one in - image of pyramid but description of a carroll diagram! As far as I can see all the images are there just matched to the wrong names! I think there was about 6 errors.

Another 2 small mistakes for the software developers -
* in Misc. tools and Layouts the map of the world with labels toggle template doesn't show a map of the world for me.
* In number tools the point to ppint hyperlink on the geoboards doesn't seem to work for me either.
Hope that is helpful and not at all seen as derogatory - as I love the templates - have made a very long list to show staff during their training tomorrow. I think what is great about them is that you can have a school agreement on certain features required in all flipcharts (such as learning objectives, success criteria, keywords, self assessment etc.) and the templates are there for everybody to access and they will all look the same.
Thanks [clap]

Hi Sarah - thanks for your feedback! I was really pleased to read your comment about having a school agreement about the standard components in a Flipchart. I developed all the templates and have just had a good look at your comments. As soon as I get a minute I'll supply you with new variations of both the connect 4 and letter magnets templates...will put it on the to-do list!
Regarding all your other comments, none of the errors are actually errors with the templates so there isn't anything I can fix for you myself. The point you make about the file names not matching the thumbnail image in the Higher order questioning section is interesting as the pages are in fact labelled correctly. What appears to be happening is that the wrong thumbnail is being loaded in....if you drag out the page that appears to be a pyramid scale but labelled carroll diagram, you'll find that it is infact a carroll diagram. If in doubt, go with the description not the image preview and we'll look into why this is happening. By the way, this also seems to be causing the confusion with the map/toggles. I didn't supply a world map with labels but I did supply a Uk map with labels - the image preview for this file seems to be loading in a world map - again, the labels are loading in correctly so let them guide you!
Your point about the Point to point tool in the geoboards seems to be another little peculiarity you've uncovered tnhat is specific to V3 Activprimary as the template works fine in AP2 and AS3. I'll make sure this gets looked at and hopefully we can get it fixed for you very soon.
The feedback is appreciated so keep the comments coming!
Best wishes+wave+

Thanks Sarah for your quick response!!
Haven't found any other anomalies you'll be pleased to know. First reactions from staff training were that there were some useful ideas in the collections.
Was looking at the Blockbusters one with the EY team this afternoon and came up with the idea of using it for phonics games - something like showing them a picture or a real object and asking them to say/write/point to the correct initial/final/medial sound and then scoring a point for their team if they are correct. I suppose you could even adapt it and put numbers in the cells and then use it for mental maths.
I am going to print out thumbnails of some of the really useful templates for my staff to get them started - as only sad people like me would plough through all of them!!!!

I just went on to Resources and then "ideas and templates". When I saved "flash utilities" it opened "nought and crossses" Help! How did this happen? I tried saving other templates - like random number generator and something else came up.

How very strange - I have just downloaded them again for the Resources section of the Planet and they were fine for me - I do save mine to a location first though.
Someone else may be able to shed some light on this one hopefully.

I have noticed (of course it may just be my PC) that when I try to build a flipchart using the flipchart pages in the Resource Library, if I choose a template then change my mind and select another template and then turn the page to get to a new flipchart page the original page I chose appears on the next page! And if you change the template several times and then turn the pages to get new pages it will give you pages with all the templates you previously chose!
I know it is easy to use the flipchart builder via the dashboard to build flips using the templates but it seems a shame that it cannot be done effectively using the resource library, particularly as this is a way that less confident staff are familiar using.

P.S. If it is only my PC - please accept my apologies! ;)

Thought I would start a pro-active addition to this thread.....
Attached is a flipchart using some ideas to support Phonics - ever popular and topical!! Anyway, I have used templates as my backdrop and wondered whether others would add to it  This was easy for me to set up as I had the pages already set up and just moved them into the templates if this works then we could start some different ones.
Different people adding to different flipcharts - that way we could get some really good topical flipcharts to upload onto planet....
This one is specifically phonics so lets keep to that to start with and try to add a page note to each page - and if you want to be clever and use some V3 actions that's fine too, but I haven't :p That last paragraph sounds a bit bossy - once a teacher always a teacher I suppose!!

I created this chalkboard so that my letters could be straight. Hope this helps. Be sure to read page notes.

Hi
If you do a search for 'jeopardy' (search facility in blue band above forum posts) you will find several links to jeopardy templates and flipcharts.
Hope that helps

Have been meaning to post this for a while but keep forgetting!!
I have used the template of the magnetic letters that is provided and strightened up the letters and saved it to 'my flipchart pages' - as I was getting annoyed by wonky letters!! Have added it to Page 6 of the flipchart that Margaret started a while back and posted above. If you want to add it to your 'my flipchart pages' you will need to be in design mode and then right click and chose 'add page to library'.
Hope someone else prefers non-wonky letters!

Each to their own, but I actually quite like them wonky as it adds to the feeling that this page is very much an ad hoc page which I would just have for children to play with. Bit like the fridge idea.
BUT thank you for your time and energy Sarah!! [clap]

I do agree that for the children to play with it is great to have the wonky ones but when I'm trying to do a more serious phonics lesson and I use them I prefer them non-wonky!!
