I have just got AP3 for use on our non promethean board (RM Clasboard) and it came with a hub. software installed easily. [clap] My question is what benefits should I see from using the hub? It doesn't seem to make any difference whether I plug in the hub or not! Should the hub allow for handwriting recognition, removal of the watermark etc?

Normally, the hub does the following things:
1)Makes your computer THINK you are connected to an Actiboard so that the software will not show the watermaker, allow you to use handwriting recognition tools as well as the fraction maker.
2)Allows you to add Promethean peripherals as desired. For example, the hub works as a radio transceiver so you should also be able to use the Activslate and Activote devices!
I absolutely LOVE the Activotes so if you can afford to add them, they can add so many types of whole group interaction with the materials you develop with the Promethean software!

I must be doing something wrong. Although the hub flashed in circles for me [clap] and then lit up it's "tummy" [clap] it won't allow me to use handwriting or fraction maker. It is also very fond of the watermark and won't give it up!!!

Perhaps the software (Activprimary) was installed but not the drivers. I think the hub uses the Activboard drivers.
But I see this is a UK only forum and maybe I don't know what I'm talking about!

I'll check the drivers in the morning.

As Lisa suggests, confirm that you have installed the Activdriver.
If you have a watermark still visible with the hub attached, I suggest you contact Promethean support who will provide all the help you need to get up and running.

One thing, you have to plug the hub in before starting the software for the watermark to be invisible & the handwriting to work.

Margaret suggested I feedback on the comparison between the Easiteach software we were using with the RM board and AP. There is no comparison. All the staff agree that the AP is much, much much better for -ease of use (for both staff and children)
-resources
-interactivity
-potential (it can just do SO much more)
I imagine the easiteach will be consigned to a back burner - or removed from the system very shortly!
