Hi

Although not a mac user, so can't help with flipcharts if you tell me some of the things you are wanting to cover/discuss during your meeting I will see what I can do in terms of some ideas. graemlins/wave.gif

I was just seeing if anyone had made up some flp that had school clip art on them and welcome to parents, maybe a letter to welcome them to our school. I guess I will have to make up them myself or use a ppt. Thanks for any help.

Hi Les,

If it were me - I would want to "exploit" ACTIVstudio as much as I could. Not only to get my own head round it, but also because it is has such amazing functionality that you will also engage others - staff/parents/children too.

Powerpoint so often ends up being a exactly what it purports to be which is a presentation and so the spontaneity of audience participation gets lost.

Having a blank page as people arrive is always good, and ask them to sign in. That gets them using the technology without feeling under pressure you may want to say things like

firm pressure
avoid pressing the "right click" button on the pen

Then you have a list/selection of names which you could use during your talk. To call out a name randomly in readiness for a question you are about to ask, or a "volunteer" could be great fun.

Then I would have a set of images - one on each page - that you use as your starting point as you are dealing with each point.

You will have things that you want to say to your parents. Maybe over uniform/rules/homework/school trips

To just have a picture up to which you then add their perception/understanding of what the picture stands for. This gives you a great starting point in terms of the things you need to address or not (!). More importantly it means that you get your audience taking part. If you are wanting to engender a "sharing the education role" with your parents then what better way than getting them involved from the start?

Any key issues you can identify by having headings on another set of pages and adding to them.

Things like dates and handouts can be easily "shown" and talked about using the highlighter.... spotlight.... reveal blind.... pen to ring around things.

Websites could have live links and relevant bits could be snapshotted into the flp as you go along or in advance.

You don't have to do too much to engage them and by limiting yourself with the tools you use you don't need to feel overwhelmed by it either.

More importantly, if nothing else you will have a record of what was said (or not!!) which may affect/change the way you next do the same evening! graemlins/icon_lol.gif

Have gone on a bit... and it may well be that I am wide of the mark.... esp. if you are already using the software and know all this.

BUT I have just come back from holiday and the sun is still shining graemlins/clap.gif
