I will be showing some secondary Social Studies teachers the ACTIVBoard tomorrow.
I am a Maths teacher so have heaps of Maths resources, but I have very few Social Studies resources, esp flipcharts.
Might someone be able to post a few really topnotch ones, or email them to me at rexboggs5@optusnet.com.au or give me a web link that contains some useful flipcharts or other resources.
Thanks in advance!
Cheers

Hi Rex,
I've submitted a few flipchart to Promethean Planet you may find useful. However, I would imagine they are US-oriented.
One is called "The Mighty Mississippi"
It can be found at:
http://www.prometheanplanet.com/us/server/show/ConResource.864
another one is a Quiz based on a Survey done by National Geographic Magazine.
http://www.prometheanplanet.com/us/server/show/ConResource.7477
Both have lots of links around the flipcharts and to the web and both integrate voting.
Hope this helps!

Thanks, Lisa!
They will be very helpful. Even though the topics may be not quite what they teach, it will give them a good idea of what a Social Studies lesson using an IWB can look like.

+wave+ Rex,
I have not read the forum in two weeks and just saw your post. It may be a little late, but I have a ton of flipcharts I have created in the last year that cover World History from Rome to the Enlightenment. (I teach four sessions a day for 12 -13 year olds). Many use material from one or both of the textbooks I use, so they are a bit specific to that textbook. What's your need? I also have flipcharts I use for presentations at conferences etc....
If you still need the material? Let me know.

Thanks for the offer. While I have done the presentation (and the teachers loved what can be done with the board), I will most likely be doing similar presentations next year.
Might you be able to share a few that are interactive? I downloaded a few Social Studies flipcharts from the resources but many were 'powerpointy' in that they tended to present intormation rather than requiring interaction with it.
Cheers

When I get back to school after the winter break (Jan 2) I'll look into what I have that is interactive. I try to create flipcharts that students can present as "the teacher". I have flipcharts that are info only, info leading to a project, ACTIVote based, questions with reveal answers using an eraser tool. I'll try to put together a "sampler". I just sent several to a teacher from San Diego I met at a conference. I've been teaching 32 years and I have traded more ideas since I started using the board a year and a half ago than I can believe. What energy.

I agree about the energy, the quantity and quality of the resources I have both found and developed since I started with my ACTIVBoard in April has been overwhelming (if at times exhausting).
I would appreciate it if you could share some resources after winter break. The Soc Studies teachers were excited by the ACTIVBoard and are hoping to budget for one for next year.
Cheers
Rex
