View Full Version : An ongoing problem.

My girlfriend loaded the Promethean ACTIVprimary2 program on my computer. At the time, we had joint administrator accounts on my computer.

Since then our circumstances have changed, her account has been deleted and I changed the user name in the licence box to my own.

Unfortunately, it's causing problems for me everytime I launch ACTIVprimary2. I get a dialogue box saying that the serial number is incorrect. When I click on the box the licence agreement box pops up. I can get around this problem by deleting the last four digits of the serial number and checking the box that says: I accept the terms of this licence. The program then opens.

The other problem that this situation has caused is that when I run a registry cleaner on my computer, it now mis-identifies two essential components of ACTIVprimary as spyware and deletes them. I then have to launch the program from one of the school CD roms. It's a pain.

Is there any way I can correct these problems without removing the program and reinstalling it once more?

I don't want to clutter the hard drive of my well-behaved and somewhat pristine computer and contemplating a reinstallation gives me nightmares.:(

Kindest Regards,

Riverrun

As we constantly update and improve the software, I uninstall and reinstall new versions regularly! It shouldn't be forseen as a nightmare, its a painless procedure that takes less than a minute.
Bear in mind, an uninstall (using add/remove programs in Control Panel) only removes what was installed at day one. Any changes, additions, flipcharts added since are preserved.

Anyway, its your own fault for giving your girlfriend access to your hard drive!!! :p
(The forum moderator will probably edit that out )

Oh, by the way, is that the 21st century way of dumping a girlfriend? Deleting her account on your computer? ;)

delete: C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\ACTIV Software\ACTIVprimary2\ap2.dat
relaunch software
reenter your cd key with no spaces

enjoy :D

On a side note, I got my wife her own computer (we have 2 at home) and she still uses my work laptop, grrrrr, I think it's genetic.

Thanks for the help Guys. The reason I'm wary of deleting is that far from gaining space as you might suppose, I always seem to lose it instead through deletion. I don't really know why this happens but it does. I'd like to avoid a situation whereby my hard-drive becomes cluttered up with the detritus of programs which I've erased. I suppose I have a thing about saving space.
I'm a newby here by the way but judging from the browsing which I've already done and which I find helpful, I'll be dropping by much more often.

Don't know about you guys but I just love my ACTIVboard. [clap]

Thank you all for the assistance,

River

This fixed my problem with Activstudio. Previous users of the computer were OK but for any new users logging on and using activstudio for the first time they got the error message 'incorrect serial number'. When the serial was entered they then got the message 'runtime error 75 path / file access error'.

thanks[clap]
