I have been tinkering with flash scripting and created this swf file which I embedded in a flipchart.
The page notes of the flipchart says the following.

Tap with activpen or mouse anywhere around the red oval button.
This will make the oval button change color to green and make it follow the activpen/mouse all over the USA map and display a ripple shock effect.
Not sure of the application of this, but right now I think this would be a good attention focus tool on a busy picture/flipcart

Perhaps this could be a future tool in ASPE in addition to the cool spolight tool ?

Please comment if you find this useful.

I like the marker idea - very clever! Is there any way it can be used out of its context, or be given a blank background that could then be annotated and used?

Here it is on a blank flipchart page.

You can click the pen tool to get out of the cursor mode and then do your annotations.
As soon as you get back to the marquee select tool, the radiating attention grabber cursor is back in action following your pen movement.

Had a quick play and came up with this as a very basic use for it. - target number goes int he middle, then move the dot to the operation you want pupils to perform - they then shout out/write down the answer

Looks great Lara.

The application in my classroom for high school chemistry would appear to be in navigating a complex concept map or pointing to coefficients while teaching balancing of chemical equations.

Glad you could find a use for this. Makes it all worthwhile :)

Trying hard not to baffled! I really think there will be lots of things people can use this for - such a simple idea with SO much potential - can I post it in the ACTIV primary forum in case people don't come in here?

Excellent, Saha. It was great meeting you at GaETC. I wish we had time to sit down and pick each others brains. Maybe at NECC.

How do you layer a map or something? I tried and it was hidden behind it. Is the background clear on the object?

Thanks,

Bill
