Hi,

Anyone had any experience with upgrading an old TDS ACTIVboard to work with AS2? We've just taken over a company in Nelson and need to upgrade them.

Help would be appreciated!

Dave

What you need is activdriver 4 (downloadable from the website)

And a hub.

These can be purchased from your Education Consultant or Reseller.

And a hub.

What kind of hub? Is it the one that looks like an ACTIVote pod??

Thanks for your help :)

Looks like a voting device with a wire.

Could you please be a bit more specific about the hub: We have one tds (with usb support) board and ActivPX I would like to upgrade to AS2. Is this hub something to purchase from Promethean, if so, what is the order code.

And an additional AS2 licence of course (presumably!)

Thanks

John

Just give sales a ring! Tis a bit expensive though! Wayyyy more worthwhile just getting a new board :p

The "hub" plugs into the board itself, don't need anything else other than your AS2 licenses.

The hub plugs into the computer, not the board. (Dave knew that really!)

What is that little grey coloured thing that we have next to the board doing then?!!?!?!?!

The confusion here is that there are two things that could be called 'hubs'.
First, the grey dangly thing that plugs into the electronics pack (top left hand side of board). Its function is to effectively upgrade an older (TDS?) board with a black oval - the effect of plugging this in is to allow the board to receive radio signals from slates/voting devices etc. Officially called a 'POD' - ONLY plugs into a board.
Secondly, the activote lookalike with a USB lead attached. Its function is to act as a virtual board in situations where you want to run voting sessions or use a slate without an ACTVboard present. Such as 'mini' voting sessions around a laptop/computer away from the board, or, as we do, in the school hall where we have a vast projection screen that we 'interact' with via a slate. Officially called a 'HUB' ONLY plugs into a computer.
Basically, you don't need the activote lookalike if you have a board plugged into your computer.
If you want voting/slate on an older board you need grey dangly.
Confused?
Sorry, that's the best I can do.
Correct me someone if I'm wrong.

Seems a perfect explanation to me!
