I'm sure I must be stupid, but I can no longer see a Logg-off option on the forum. I'm sure it used to be there. I now have to navigate back to a much higher level to find it. When I've come in via my forum bookmark this isn't easy.

Just close the browser or go to another webpage and see if that works.

Hi

No you are not stupid! There was a log of button, I have disabled it for a good reason - all will make more sense when the forum is properly integrated into the planet website - which is under progress.

All you need to do is log of from the planet website and you will be logged off from the forum, loggin of from the forum but no tthe site can cause problems and potential corruption of the two databases that hold our user accounts hence why the VB log off option was removed.

A small inconvenience now for a great gain soon!

Cliff,
So how do I log off from the planet website? I have a bookmark which takes me straight to the forum, so can't go BACK and I can't find a link to take me there? I'm pretty sure that sometimes I leave the forum without logging off. I have just used my bookmark to come onto the forum and it has taken me straight to the forum without me having to log on (does it think I'm still logged on from my last visit?). Surely this can't be right?

Having browsed the forum I'm now trying to log off. I have managed to get to the Promethean Planet site, where it is helpfully asking me to log in (even though I am obviously logged in to be able to type this). I'll try logging in and then logging off - but isn't thi causing problems with your databases ?

Final update for today. having loggde on and then off on the PLanet site, I was still able to go back to the foirum (still open on another tab in my browser) and carried on browsing the forum. I closed the tabe, and then had to logon again (mind you I find navigating through the Promethean site more consfusing than it used to be - and I had to log in twice befoer getting back to the forum.

I believe the Forum is still run through the old system which enables you to be 'remembered' through cookies, whereas - currently - the rest of the Planet website does not yet have the option to use cookies to remember you. This might explain things a bit?!

Please delete all bookmarks for the forum and use www.prometheanplanet.com/uk as the site to goto login - log in here and you are logged into the whole site including resources, forum etc - log out here and you log out from everything including forum.

We do use seperate systems and they have seperate databases though they are syncronised, the forum when visited directly will use its own login system to control your access and yes it will remember you when you return at a later date using cookies. The planet site uses session ids and is more secure way to control your access.

Lara is correct in that we are developing a cookie system that is quite complex becasue it has to work with the Vbulletin script as also. you will be able to set a preference to either log out automatically or be remembered so that you are logged back into the site automatically - great if you have your own computer not recomended if you share a computer with anyone since they will also be able to access on your account.

The correct procedure I would like everyone to use is to go to the planet site and login there - once logged in the forum menu link now takes you straight to the forum and also this view of the forum gives you a drop down menu to get back to any other part of the site directly from the forum.
