Using activstudio on other boards

Does anyone know if there are any plans to release a copy of activstudio that can be used on any board without the watermark? My school has a wide variety of boards and the head wants to standardise the software used. As I am in the minority and determined to keep activstudio, as in my humble opinion, it is much better than all the competition

You might be able to answer this question for me. If you had a very large touch screen would you be able to use AP or AS effectively on it?

Yes you would Lou. However, those touch screen overlays work like a Smart board. You don't see your cursor when you hover over the screen. This means you can't see your cursor change when you want to draw around the protractor, ruler etc. Also you won't be able to use the spotlight in the same way. Unfortunately, that is the same with all touch sensitive overlays and boards. No rollovers, pop-ups and tooltips. :( So don't bother trying to run Flash stuff that uses hover and click functions.

Thanks for the reponse Pete! My friend works in a special school and they has just got a huge touch sensitive screen. However, she would really like to try AP on it as she has seen how it is used in my classroom. I will pass the information on, thanks again!

You can use hover on a SMARTboard, you just have to select it from the tools menu before you touch, it's not a great solution but if you still want to use the ACTIVstudio features on it the facility for the hover is still there.

A teacher reading this needs to confidently know that Promethean boards allow ANY software to operate "exactly" as it does on your desktop...
