Well, I''ve been trying to figure this out for more than an hour, and it's time to ask for help. I have vowels on a triangular shape. I want to be able to remove alphabet letters from the shape to create a word elsewhere on the page, while leaving the original letter there - sort of like an inexhaustable bank of letters. I have an example I'm following, and when I click on say an "a" in edit mode and it says it's grouped. I know I must be missing a step, because I can't group it. Help please.

Hi

If you ungroup it you will be able to remove the letter from the shape. However if you want an inexhaustable bank you need to duplicate the letter lots of times then stack them on top of one another.

To make this look good I would ungroup, duplicate the letter once, move it somewhere else then put the letter back on the shape and then regroup. Lock this image to the background so that it won't move when you go to pick up a letter.

Duplicate the other letter 4/5 times. Stack them one on top of the other and then select that stack and dulplicate again, repeat this over and over again and then put this stack back on top of the original in the shape.

Does that make sense?

If it is only vowels you need this for, you could always put each one as an icon on the toolbar.

Thank you so much! I used the duplicate icon, and it worked. I was not able to duplicate a whole stack of letters, though, just the top letter. I'm happy with the end product.

If the letter is in the resource library, instead of dragging them out one at a time, you can select the little radio button at the bottom of the Resource Window that says "Rubber Stamp."

That way anywhere you click, it will add that selected image over and over again to easily make piles. I do that with the money all the time.

(Be sure to put it back to drag and drop afterwards or you'll go nuts trying to stop it! )

(For mac users, it's not a radio button at the bottom but a pull down menu at the top with the choices of Drag and Drop, Rubber Stamp and Grow Objects.)

BTW, grow objects will allow you to select an image and the drag from top left to bottom right on your page to easily create the size object you desire. Nice feature and really great for the annotations!

Here's another option. If the letter was created with the text box, you can right click on the letter then select "deconstruct" which will duplicate the letter for dragging and dropping.

Hi tonik

You will only be able to duplicate the whole stack if you drag your mouse/pen over the whole stack and select them all in the stack before double clicking on the stack and choosing the duplicate option from the pop up toolbar!+wave+
