View Full Version : Page Scale
Hi all,
Just wondered if there is a page scale option in Studio? I use this a fair bit in AP but I have yet to locate it in Studio.
Please could someone point me in the right direction?
Thanks
Lou

Hi Lou
Page scale is located top right hand corner of flipchart - see screengrab attached here.
Under S for scale - well why didn't I think of that!
Thanks +wave+

I have played around with the scale options a bit but now I am stuck! At school I use a standard PC - 17" monitor and all is well. At home I use a widescreen laptop and AS displays as a smaller version - changing scale sends a bit off the screen but leaves a bit more blank... How can I size / scale my flips at home so that at school they display properly? ????

I'd love to know this too - I have exactly teh same problem Charlotte :(
Hi Charlotte,
I had the same problem with transferring flipcharts I had made on my laptop to the school system. I found that the easiest way around this was to change the screen size on my laptop. Since having Studio DE I have been smiling as you can choose the size of the page and I don't have to change the laptop settings!
I always go with 800*600 as when I open them in AP at school they look perfect! :D
Have a play around with the different page sizes when you select new flipchart. It might just solve the problem!
I just wish this could be an option on AP! It would make my life so much easier!

Personally, when I create a new flipchart I choose a size of flipchart that matches my projector (the one I use is 1024*768). On my PC (which is 1280x1024) there are proportionally more vertical dots than on the projector. If you use height fit you won't see all of the width of the flipchart, if you use width fit you will see all of the flipchart but there will be borders at the top and botton. Best fit will be the same as width fit. Original Size (100% scale) will show a border round all sides.
On my widescreen laptop (1280x800 I think) there are proportionally more horizontal dots than on the projector. This time if you use height fit there will be borders at the sides, if you use width fit you won't be able to see the top and bottom of the flipchart at the same time and best fit will be the same as height fit. Original size will still show a border round all sides but it will be thicker at the sides and narrower at the top & bottom.
I hope that makes sense. I wouldn't worry too much about how the border looks while your editing the flipchart as long as it looks OK when you present it. The scale you use when editing will depend on what you want to do. Use one of the best/width/height fits as above when you want to see the whole picture, use Original Size when editing text and use higher scales when you want to see detail.

Thanks for your reply - makes more sense now! However, I am not at all bothered about how it looks when I am editing it at home but if I create a flip at home (on widescreen laptop) what setting should I use? What is happening at the moment is that is displays in an odd way when I open it at school and display it on the IWB. Is there a recommended scaling I could use to avoid this? It didn't used to happen when I had a 'normal' laptop...

Hopefully the thing I said about creating the flip at 1024x768 (or 800x600 depending on your projector at school) rather than screen resolution should mean that when you take it into work and use it with the projector it should look OK using any of the 'Best Fit, Width Fit, Height Fit or Original Size' settings.

OK - spell it out for me.... How do I figure out the scale for my projector? I have a Sanyo Pro XtraX. Thanks for all your help! :)
I don't get that either! If you were running AP I could help you out a bit more but I don't have Studio on the school system!
I would just try making a flipchart by selecting the 1024x768 page option when you go to New in the menu and see how that looks when you get to school. If it still looks wrong, try again with the 800*600 option. +wave+

On the computer connected to the projector right click on the desktop, select Properties and then look at the Settings tab. The answer is under 'screen resolution'. I'm sorry if I confused things by mentioning 800x600 as well as 1024x768 :( , if you use Best Fit, Width Fit or Height Fit scales they will look almost the same (1024x768 just has more detail).

Now I get it!! Just checked PC settings and they are 1024x768 so when I get home I will do the same for the laptop and set it's settings to the same! This will then solve my problems with creating flips at home! Hurray! {}
