Does The Resource dvd work with ACTIVstudio Student Edition.............. If it does not install the resources could I still somehow get the resources off the DVD?

Hi +wave+
You don't have access to the resource library in SE i'm afraid. You can open flipcharts and use your tools on them then save with your own annotations etc. But you can't really create your own flipcharts in the same way as you can in Activstudio.

Do you know that Background Bundle that was on promeathean planet......Well I downloaded It and it worked fine with ASE. So couldn't I just save the files on my computer insted of installing it like I did it with the bundle?

Hi Josh,

As Katherine mentioned, you will not be able to access the resources from the Resource DVD in any fashion for use with the Student Edition.

The Student Edition has limited functionality and was developed so that students could view flipcharts created with the Professional Edition, or create simple presentations using their own workstations. It is for this reason that we allow schools to load the Student Edition on an unlimited number of computers, free of charge.

The resources supplied with Activstudio Professional Edition (and on the Resource DVD) are for use strictly with that version of the program. See extracted verbiage from Activstudio Professional Edition licensing below:

"Copyright resources are provided on a separate CD and may be used free of charge but only on a properly licensed copy of this Promethean application..."

Thanks for your question!

so i think the answer to your question josh might be "Technically, yes. Legally, no".

"I HAVE GOT TO STOP ASKING THIS"
When I first posted this I said the resource dvd that came with ACTIVstudio.....Just to clear things up..........I meant the free upgrade one that is mailed to you that you can order on the Promeatheans Website. So is everything thats been said the same for the upgrade.

Hi

JB_UK is technically wrong! :D

When the resources cd installs it looks for a folder to install to. If the folder is not there it won't install. Soooooooooooooo if you only have SE (Student Edition) on your pc then it won't install. Does that clear it up... Hope so... Sorry we were all so busy being helpful and missing the question  +wave+

Ah, I hate being wrong!

But can't you copy and paste the resources from your hard drive of a computer you had installed them on to another computer, I'm not saying I would do this, cos I know it would not be in keeping with the copyright, i'm just saying technically couldn't this be possible?

Also if all it does is look for a folder, then couldn't you technically just manually create a folder?

It's all so technical in here :)

Just like JB_UK said, couldn't I just create a folder and then copy the files from the cd into it......(Not Saying I Would!)

Its all so technical in here :D

The whole point is that it just installs! We are not offering resources to go with SE they are for the full version which is the whole point of SE. SE is for pupils only.

If you have the full version it won't be a problem will it, just install the full version.

If you were using JPGs or Bitmaps then it would make the file soooo big, which is why we have zipped our resources which will only install into a requisite folder. Of course we could just offer all our resources to other board users... just like they do... oh wait a minute   :D ;)

But someone answer the question! Can he do this or not? Why is everyone avoiding the question? I would like to see a yes or no answer! Plus I want to be right ha ha! Then Margaret will have to eat some humble pie! Or I will if I am still wrong! Anyways I like pie! :-)

...........and there's no resources library in Activstudio SE either, so how do you "get" to the resources.

Its easy, fr backgrounds on a flipchart page in AS SE right click, click page background, click browse and search for the resource your looking for. And then you can just open the folder and drag and drop the other resources on to the page.
