Been on to Tech Support today with a problem we can't fathom, but knowing you lot, someone's probably had it and hopefully sorted it out.
On one of our machines, the embedded video (with 'placeholder' selected) will play at the point where you are placing it (just before clicking ok). When you click ok, all seems well and the video appears as a 'still' of the first frame which (in design mode) can be moved/resized etc. When returning to presentation mode, you click to run the movie, the player buttons appear and the slider moves along playing just sound (no pics) on both the monitor and IWB.
Anyone seen anything like this?

What type of file is it? I had a similiar problem and it turned out to be the file type. I think it was wav and avi files - haven't got my diary at home tonight so can't be 100% sure.

Won't know until tomorrow as its at school. We did need the quicktime player that we installed off the AP2 installation discs to play anything at all. Will return tomorrow.

I will also check out the file types I had issues with.

this is a known problem with certain avi files - ones that have been created using the screen recorder have a problem for example - unfortunately there is no way round it at the moment. They will view ok in the link viewer, I don't know whether anyone has got round the problem by saving the avi file as a different video file or not?

Hi

Have just been told this.... hope it helps clear up any queries...

Due to license restrctions the "techsmith codec" required to allows AVIs made with the screen recorder to be embedded in flipchart pages cannot be shipped with the product

It can be downloaded and from:

http://www.techsmith.com/codecs/ensharpen/default.asp (http://www.techsmith.com/codecs/ensharpen/default.asp)

Thanks, Margaret. Just back from lengthy holiday. Can't believe the activity I've missed here whilst away! Will try this out next week when back in school.

Just had the same problem yesterday in AP3. I have downloaded the codec. This is an extract from the website...

TechSmith video codecs provide lossless image quality coupled with excellent compression ratios.

There are no charges, royalties or licensing requirements for distributing videos encoded with TechSmith video codecs or with distributing the codec to others for viewing.

So, couldn't it now be included with AP?
