Hi All.

This maybe be a stupid question (I hope that it is) but has anyone else been able to open Smart Notebook files (version 9 i think) in AP2.5?

It shows the files when you go to open them from another location, but when i open the file, it shows the progress but nothing is there. I can see the content if i download and use Smart Notebook, and can save it as either 9.0 or 8.0 file formats, but still wont show it in AP

Any suggestions, or does anyone else have this problem?

????

Dominic

Hi

You currently are unable to open Smart Notebook files in AP. You can however in AS. Sorry! :(

Even though the release notes for 2.5 list Smart Notebook 9.5 compatability?

Not being able to open the files causes lots of problems as our LEA have a fondness for smart products, and dont produce dual versions of the files.

Is there a timeline for when Notebook files will be supported?

I do apologise for this mistake. You are right it does state Smart Notebook 9 compatability. I will try and find out for you in terms of timings for the future. +wave+

Hi Dominic and Margaret

You CAN open Smart Notebook files in Activprimary 2.5. Make sure when you click "Open from another location" and the dialogue box pops-up, the files of type drop down at the bottom either says "All types" or "Smart Notebook V8 V9"
Navigate to your file and AP2.5 will convert it.

Does it work the other way too? Can Smart users open AP flipcharts? I only ask because I have done a couple of inset days recently and I have had to spend time making smart resources for those who don't have AP or AS.

Yes they can although obviously non of the actions will work, which is the same way round for activ importing smart files, links, sounds etc wont work. Also the text aligns to the top left but all the images etc are separate objects.

As far as I know, 9.5 will open ACtiv 2.5 files now.

Now, I am still having problems, I get the options to open the file, and I change the file types, but when I open the file, it goes through the motions of opening it, but nothing appears.

One of these files may contain flash so i know that wouldnt work, but the other one, i just put a black scribble across the smart file, and AP never shows that :(
