View Full Version : Pen tray gone astray

As well as its use as an excellent teaching tool, the IWB in our reception class is there as part of the continuous provision of learning experiences for the kids. This means that there are always children using the board on an ad hoc basis.
Two or three times a day - and always when the teacher's back is turned - the pens will appear at the top of the page rather than their usual position at the bottom making them inaccessible to all but the tallest children. When questioned, the children are unable to say how this has happened (this isn't to say that there isn't the possibility of some 'mischief' involved).
The pens can only be returned (as far as we know) by shutting down and restarting AP2.
Is there another way? Is this a feature built into the software for some reason? How have they done it in the first place?

Right clicking on the pen tray toggles it between top and bottom of screen. (Same with tools for right and left). My children rarely realise if they've pressed the right click button on the pen (and whenever I want to , it nevers works for me!)

Thanks for that. However, mine won't toggle - just goes upstairs with a right click and stays there no matter how much I try to get it down again. No such problem with rt-lft tool bar.

I tried replicating that and I couldn't. Do you have the latest AP?

Hi Dug,

Stop posting interesting questions when we are supposed to be on hols :D . This is my homepage... sad person that I am and so I can't resist a sneak look!! ;)

The right click can seem a bit fickle on this action, but right click so that you are almost right clicking "off the page" right at the bottom of where the toolbar was.

It is almost as though you are tricking it :p .

Let us know if this piece of technical trickery eludes you! :(

That's the one. I know what you mean by fickle though. I think my mistake was trying to click the tray again while it was upstairs.
Thanks everyone.
Not quite got to 'homepage' situation yet - i prefer Google.
Holiday... Oh yes, I remember now.
PS Yes, latest AP running.

I guess that makes me sad as well although when you live in a house as small as mine, the works laptop tends to get booted up in the hols as there's no room for a desktop pc!

Besides the likes of you & I going ABCD means that our eager community of users can rest assured that as well as seemingly being Promethean personnel on hand 24/7, this also extends to 7/52.

Hope you and all who read my somewhat futile post have a Happy Easter.
