How do I use the hub and AcivStudio at the same time?
The problem I am having is that the hub stops the mouse, pen etc from working!
I want to use Activote on some pages and want to write on others, without having to unplug the board all the time!
Anyone had a similar problem?
Also, if both are connected when I try to register the devices it reverts to the old style black voting pads!

It definately shouldn't disable the mouse! Have you tried giving the guys at tech support a ring?

The technician in school was supposed to be doing it - just thought I might get some pointers before I produce any more starters and find they don't work when I get back!
Thanx for your help

You shouldn't need the hub if you have a board plugged in! The activote runs with the receiver inbuilt in the board. Then you can use the pen and everything else.
The hub is only used if you dont have a board.
Does this help ????

Angie is correct. Are you using the hub because you have a 75" board??
If so, you need a transceiver pod instead.....please supply some more information.
Thanks

Hi
Basically if you plug in a hub, you are effectively plugging in "another" board. :D The electronics of the hub emulate the board and so by plugging in the hub - no wonder the mouse gets confused

Hi Paul,
You’re not the only to do this; I had exactly the same problem when I first started using ACTIVote. The kit came with a hub so naturally I plugged it in. The instructions supplied make no mention about not using the hub with the later type board (that already has the receiver built-in). As you say the icon displayed was for the early version of the pods. I also had difficulty ‘Selecting Country’ in ‘Device Registration’.
After our Network Manager admitted defeat, it took me three phone calls to Promethean Technical Support to sort out the problem. The first two advisors told me it was a software problem and to download patches. On my third phone call a more experienced advisor said, ‘you’re not using the hub and the board are you?’ Since then there have been no problems and the system is working fine.
If we’ve both had the same problem, there must be others out there, so if they haven’t already done so, I think someone needs to update the instructions supplied with the kit.
Enjoy the Easter Holidays Kevin +wave+

Glad to have helped.........BTW have you looked inside the lid of the metal case? Lots of people miss all the software, Motivote resources and helpsheets in there! Not to mention the screwdriver!
Good luck

Still no joy!!!!
Apartently now I need to install some firmware!!!
Any one know how I get hold of this?
I have a board that is 2 years old and does have remote blue oval on top left hand side - appaerntly all I need is some software - but where oh where from?

Give tech support a ring, Paul. They've emailed me software before and I've been upgraded within 1/2 hour. They will also send out a firmware disc by post if you prefer, which usually arrives next day.
I'm concerned that you have a 'blue oval' board. Ours need a dangly pod thing (not a hub) as well. Does it have this?
BTW I love the flashy snail that you used on the first page of your flp. Meant to ask where you get this sort of thing.

Hiya Dug
Will have to give tech support a ring.
For the snail, search yahoo images for animated gif and name of what u want eg bookworm.
then i changed the colour of the background with Ulead gif animator - which lets u save that as a flash file
If you need anymore help on these things leave a message

Hi Dug
I wanted to send you a private message or email you but you're not accepting. Would you mind sending me a private message or email as I want to ask you something about one of your flips.
Cheers

I've been dying to know how to have animated items on a flipchart, this is a superb tip. Just one problem, I don't have the Ulead software. Do you or anyone else out there know if there is any free software that'll do the same sort of job (turning a GIF into a flash file).
I suppose I'll have to buy it if not. Can't go without a feature like this.

We sell two different voting kits, both containing 32 handsets; you probably bought the version which doesn't come with the hub and MV question set.

Your board does not have the radio transceiver built in, so you will need a pod, not a hub. This is a device that plus into the board, not the PC, and contains the radio tranceiver. This will also require a firmware upgrade. I know this all sounds very confusing but if you get on to tech support they will explain it.
Another great flp, Paul. I think this one's a teensy bit beyond the Y4s though.
Good Bart GIF too.
One problem though, and I had this intermittently with the bookworm, I can't seem to move/resize/modify/add Bart to my resource library. I'm in design mode and everything, I try to drag it onto the resource bar (AP2 by the way) and it's not budging. I know I could copy and paste the whole page into another flipchart and then edit the page but this would be a bit 'faffy'. Maybe someone could help.

mine works fine Dug.... Try resaving it with a new name and see if that makes any difference...
Yeah, mine too, now I tried it on a computer that isn't an antedeluvian steam-powered slug.
Thanks anyway.
