March 30th was the anniversary of the famous painter Vincent Van Gogh’s birthday. His work is still admired and talked about today, 153 years after his birth. Below are some weblinks which might be helpful should you want them?+wave+

Continuing the Arts theme have you seen The Zoomquilt?

It is a collaborative art project between 15 artists and a Flash designer.
There is also a non-animated HTML version but the Flash version will sit nicely inside either ActivPrimary or ActuivStudio.

The content of the images will make it more probable that you are working with older pupils, so Activ Studio is likely to be your software vehicle - so the Zoom tool from this (magnifying glass) could also be used to good effect with these images.

Zoomquilt is essentially a diversion, a visual toy meant to amuse and entertain, and just maybe make you look at things a little differently. I’ve used the camera tool to capture
certain elements to give an observation focus ito an initial activity - but I think this material could be used creatively in a number of ways. See attached flipchart.

The project is the brainchild of German graphic design student, Nikolaus Baumgarten. The animation progresses from scene into scene, passing through image elements that serve as portals to the next scene.

Zoomquilt is absolutely INCREDIBLE! I love it. Am yet to think of a relevent National Curriculum learning objective for it, but I'm working on it.
