Yesterday I was lucky enough (yes... I do mean lucky actually...) to work with a class of year 5 children using ACTIVotes. The idea was for the teacher to see how it all worked with the kids being used to demonstrate in real life I suppose. For me it was a great opportunity to see how easily the children took to using the ACTIVotes.
They were really excited as would be expected but what I noticed particularly was the way that all the children had something to contribute. The discussion which was encouraged before an answer was quite mature and when I questioned individuals about their answers and opinions everyone listened. [clap]
I would love to hear of other stories/anecdotes of how people have enjoyed using voting with their classes.

We use the metaphor of a mountain to describe learning. We are all at different places on the slopes of the learning mountain. As we make our journey to the top, we may encounter difficulties through which we will have to show resilience. Every now and again we can stop and admire the view and fell proud of how far we've climbed. We can feel the satisfaction of our achievements as we near the top. We are all at different places on different mountains but we are all resolute climbers etc etc.
I use this flipchart at the beginning and end of a unit of work (on anything), and it allows the children to chart their progress over the unit. Again, the results can lead to some excellent discussion.

What a good idea!
I will use it in the morning with my GCSE group when we look at the marks for their DT projects.
Many Thanks Kevin +wave+

i love that, have seen similar things to this in classrooms but this is the best illustration, you might want to remove the "**********" from the title, makes it look like you're swearing.
Only put that there to draw it to people's attention to the bit where they enter their own text. Wouldn't want to be thought of as obscene!
I agree with the awe and wonder. When Laura came to my school to demonstrate activote with my Year 1s I there were children who would usually sit quietly, not really joining in unless prompted. They were on their knees answering every question immediately and with so much enthusiasm. We have borrowed a kit (from my student's base) and the enthusiasm has not waned. They are still as excited 4 weeks on!!

Thanks for sharing the image Dug.
Here's an adaptation for the primary voting set.

I'd like to share a moment with a group of 35 student teachers, as part of my interactive presentation on voting, I asked them a typical Y6 Test question on rotational symmetry and yes you've guessed it the majorty got it wrong. The absolute awe and wonder moment came when I put the xy original tool on (0,0) and illustrated the correct answer. Wow they won't forget that in a hurry!
