View Full Version : Multiple copies of objects
I know many of us use a stack of multiple objects (coins etc.) hidden behind each other. I've always found this rather tedious to prepare (some sort of object property that does this automatically would be great in the future - like My World!).
Maybe everyone else has already worked this out, but I hadn't, so thought I'd share...
Put a grid onto the background (I used the one that looks like lots of crosses), use snap to grid to line all the first set of objects up neatly, the select all the objects together and use duplicate. They aren't immediately snapped on top of the originals, but as they are still all selected, all you need to do is move one a little bit and they all snap on top of their original!
Much less work - hoorah! [clap]

Are you speaking of the rubber stamp tool??

I think she is talking about duplicating using the option when you double click on an object. If you just keep duplicating you then need to find a quick way of making a neat stack of them....
Once you make the neat stack as she suggests (Lara that is :D ) you can then store this stack as a resource in the library. This is actually a very powerful part of the software rarely recognised! I think using the stamp tool in this instance would mean that they copied objects are too randomly scattered across the page....
Hope all that makes sense... I think Lara and I are on the same wavelength,,,, but as for you Bill.... :D :D :D

The weather in Florida is poor actually.... the funny thing is that I looked it up before I came and it said 55 and on the plane over here I was told, by passengers and Flight crew I had made a mistake as it is always in the 80s..... well it seems that just for once I got a geographical fact right!![clap]

Hi Lara,
If you copy your first object and then go to paste on the toolbar and tap that as many times as you need then all the coins etc stack on top of one another in the top left hand corner. Select and drag them to where ever you want them on the page..its great for money or images for pictograms.
Or was that not the question??

sorry...paste is a right mouse click on the page in design mode!!!
Thanks, that's even more sensible - and actually crtl+v is even easier!

In dDesign mode right click over the object and choose Drag aCopy form the menu. You might have to choose Edit from the menu first - my memory is fading a bit:D

Nope, just as easy as being in design mode and right clicking on the object. The last option is drag a copy. +wave+

add a text then double click it
on the small toolbar that appears click the clone or duplicate icon
and make as many copy's as you want
then select them all and goto properties
and on position change the top and left values
whala all neatly stacked
hope that helped

Or even easier (if you are doing it this way because you want an exact number of copies...)
Select all the text objects > Right-click on one of them > Edit > Align > Complete
This will stack them all neatly.
