I am trying to install the Student Version of ACTIVstudio2 on Windows 2000. I have a package build which works fine on Windows XP. Is there a Windows 2000 download or is it all the same one?

It should work on Win2000 the same as WinXP, shouldn't it? (Wasn't WinXP built on Win2000?)

Thats what I thought. Its a package build in ranger, and its up and working on the XP machines no problem, but not on the 2000. Although, the teachers version is working on 2000, so I wondered if there was a difference?

XP is basically the same technology as Win2K with a flashier front end, much as Win2K is the same technology as NT4 with a flashier front end [1]. There's XP Home -vs- XP Professional, though, XP Home is the restricted (no domain logins) version. Then there's the Tablet edition, the x64 edition, MCE, etc.
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/evaluation/compare.mspx for more on that.
Sorry, I can't help with the install problem.. :)

[1] well, sort of -- they've changed more than the UI, but there's those OSes and there's Win95/98/ME which are the lower tier of things. XP also has product activation which Win2K doesn't have.

Ok, thanks for that dan. I got through to them after being on hold for ages, but they didn't know, so I guess I'm left to find this one out on my own!
