View Full Version : Compare the SMART forum...
I discovered the SMART forums 24 hours ago (link below), and posted on it about AS2.5's ability to open SMART v9 resources - do they have plans to open AS2 resources. Unbelievably, mine is still the last post on any of their forums. The last post on the 'Techie Corner forum' was on 24 February. They're missing a fantastic trick  - as someone said in the 'favourite features post', this forum is one the best things about Promethean. [clap]

Smart Notebook v9 could open AS2 flipcharts for a while.. AS2 flipcharts saved with the latest patches could not be opened....
No idea what the newer version can do yet..

Hi Danny,
I tought your forum was non- manufacturer specific??
Interesting that you would be promoting it here??
One thing is for sure, once a teacher, always a teacher....right!!! [clap] [clap]
Good luck to you!!

We do look occasionally at the Smart forum and are frankly quite amazed at the lack of activity and enthusiasm.
Current interoperability status:
Smart 9 cannot open 2.5 FLP format files, and Activstudio 2.5 can open Smart 9 files. When 9.5 is released, Smart may have blocked this.

I have taken a decision based on a long held policy of non competative linking to remove weblinks that have been posted in this topic. Can I ask all to please refrain from doing so.
Danny - I will not edit your signature but please do not use this forum for self promotion within messages - thank you.

hmm
I'm a little disappointed in your reaction to my post since I was posting about Whiteboardweb as an alternative to the sadly underused Smart forum. Why that would disappoint you Peter I don't really know.
In the interests of coverage the forum also covers all other boards. Whether teachers use it or not is up to them. And the links to resources and websites is something that may interest users of this board, as well as those of others.
As a long-time Promethean trainer I have always pushed AS2/AP2 users to the offical Promethean Forum and I will continue to do so whenever I work with teachers that use your boards. There is nowhere better for getting directed support.
It's a shame you see such things as a threat. Would you think the same about the National Whiteboard Network forum?
Sorry for upsetting the apple cart. I will remove mention of the offending forum from my sig.
best wishes
Danny

I was responsible for removing the links - as forum administrator I considered that you had broken our rules. Please don't take it personally it is a rule I have and a few people have broken it in the past and I have politly removed any link I consider inapropriate.
Not sure why you think Promethean are threatened by you or your forum Danny - I hope it goes well for you - maybe if you had asked permission to promote it might have been different. Good luck with your venture.

Thats fine Cliff.. I didn't realise links to other sites were banned. That's fair enough...
Keep up the good work on this site. I know from running many forums a moderators job is a tough one.
I must admit that I am still not totally sure if AirSkeeters comment of "Once a teacher always a teacher" is something I should take as a compliment or not? :-)

Compliment, Danny. :)
Your training site is a treasure of info to IWB teachers.
I was a teacher as well and am always looking at ways to help them/us, because I still consider myself an educator, as I am sure you do as well.
[clap] That's what I meant. [clap]
It's always unfortunate when the written word can't convey what you are tryiing to say....body language and such...
 It's really funny when I picture Peter posting in his jammies at night.......

When your posts don't get deleted for pointing out Promethean's failings of course....
