Hihi!

I've found a viable use for the XY Origin feature at last! Please find attached. Would be cool if I could attach an XY Origin to an individual object and save the flipchart so that when I come back, the XY origin of that specific object stays as I've set it (if you know what I mean) - would save a heck of a lot of messing around.

[clap]

Anybody else done anything with the XY Origin feature??? ??? Can't recall ever seeing anything.

Btw, I'll post this in the resource area on the main site when it's been built into a session. +wave+

I've used the x-y origin to demonstrate how to rotate a shape. Attached are a few pages I've used. Some are challenges to position the origin in the right place and rotate the shapes (back) into a target shape - a T in this case. There is also a demonstration of the "tracing paper" method of rotating a shape - complete with semi transparent tracing paper. Position origin on the centre and rotate the tracing paper.

Sorry - this seemed an obvious use of the origin (it does exactly what it says on the tin). It would be interesting if it could also become the centre of enlargement - I think? Perhaps I haven't thought this through.

I agree that it would be fantastic if you could change the centre of rotation of individual objects. There could be another placeholder on each object that defaults to the middle, but that can be moved anywhere. You can therefore get lots of objects rotating in different ways - a line that pivots from one end on a graph for example. You'd need an option to decide whether the centre of rotation was relative or absolute [relative to the object so that as the object is moved, so the centre of rotation moves; or absolute - i.e. stuck to one place on the page so that as the object moves, the centre of rotation stays in place]
To agree with Dave, the ability to save the flipchart with the centre(s) of rotation stored seems important to me.

Some examples on this thread http://www.Prometheanworld.com/common/html/vb_forum/showthread.php?t=1677&highlight=rotation
Try searching rotate rotation rotating in the Forum..

In the Developer Edition it is possible to change the rotation point of any object. That could be just one of 300,000 other reasons why you need to buy it :)

Its a shame this feature was lost when the upgrade to 2.0 took place. Previous version allowed you to do exactly this!!!
