Sorry to keep on asking questions - I'm using AS2.5 intensively, which is a good thing, but I have noone to ask since I am the expert at our school!
I just used Notes and Pointers (in AS2.5) for the first time but was surprised to discover that the note went on EVERY page of a flipchart, rather than just the page I wanted it on. Is there a way of turning this off? Is it a bug? I can't really think why anyone would want it to do this.
I was also a little surprised that the note didn't roll up to just leave the drawing pin as an action object until it's clicked (when it rolls down to reveal the message), but I guess that's just an alternative interpretation of the idea.

Both of these 2 things as options on the right-click menu for notes and pointers would be great! (hint!!!)

By the way, this by far the best and most community-like forum I've ever come across. Genuinely useful and helpful.

Hmmm not managed to have a look at the pointers yet in 2.5 (don't think they've changed? can't see anything on the change log!).

As far as I know, pointers & notes appear on each page and overlay what you have on the screen... not a bug. I genuinely hope someone's going to correct me.

p.s. wouldn't worry about asking too many questions.. i know i've asked quite a few around here

Hi there

The whole point of the notes and pointers is that you CAN have them constantly displayed both in and outside of the flipchart environment. This way they can be used, for example, to display your learning objectives for the lesson. They could also contain, for instance, something you constantly wanted to refer the children's attention to... a particular school rule, motto, or even just a list of spellings!

If you want something just on one page then it would be best to use the Page Notes feature.

I hope this helps :)

I think these are GREAT tools - nice to be able to stack them in order with the most recent one on top. Convenient to be able to turn a Note into a Pointer so its text is hidden, then reveal the message again. Good to be able to colour-code the messages, and to alter the orientation of the Pointer arrow.
Some other uses ottomh: Lesson objectives, assessment criteria so the students know the expected performance, design brief, safety information, instructions for an activity circus, warnings, reminders, groups that will be presenting to the class (remove their Note once they have done their presentation) Keywords, vocabulary, chemical formulae, equipment issued, clean-up instructions, name of visitor to the classroom, inspirational message...
Better stop! As you can tell, I quite like Notes and Pointers

Lots of interesting thoughts there I must say! The problem with page note is that there's no way of telling if any are there or not. Since I rarely use them, I'm likely to forget that a particular page has them. (I know that that's what I could be using the pointer or some other flag for, but I' love to make it an action object that opens the page notes. That's what I initially thought the drawing pin was for.)

In the Resource Library > Shared Images > Action Objects you will find exactly what you want. Drag the Page Notes image onto the page - it is a shortcut to open Page Notes, and a handy reminder that there are Notes for the page. There are several different images to choose from.

Fantastic. [clap] Once again Promethean is ahead of the game! A bit buried though, those action objects. But I know where they are now. Ever so slightly better armed and more dangerous.
Thanks a lot :-/
