View Full Version : Organising resources
I've just started creating my own resources - adding them to the shared resources folder. Having created loads in one new folder I created, I then decided that I needed a hierarchy of sub-folders which I have started to create. Now I wish to drag resources into it. The on-screen help tells me that I should be able to: "Right click on any thumbnail to display a popup menu which allows you to cut, copy, delete, rename or duplicate the thumbnail. Once you have cut or copied a thumbnail, the next time you right click in the thumbnail area for any folder, a paste option will appear. Click on this to paste the cut or copied thumbnail into the currently open folder. You can also click and drag a thumbnail from the thumbnail window over to a folder name in order to move the file to a different folder."
However neither of these options works. Right-clicking just gives me the option to delete the resource, and dragging it over another folder name does nothing at all.
Any ideas?
Thanks

Do this in ACTIVresource Manager (Promethean Man > ACTIVextras > ACTIVresource Manager...) There you can see the thumbnails, and right-click gives all those options.
I am not sure why you are saving your resources into the Shared Resources area? I prefer to leave that untouched and save my own creations into My Resource Library. These can still be shared with others in a number of ways. OR are you doing this on a Network?

No. I've just decided not to save them in Shared Resources (it's the default location which is why I had done) but failing to move things in AS2 I found the shared folder I created using Windows, reorganised it and moved it to where AS2 tells me that My Resources are located (Documents and Settings/My profile/My Documents/ActivStudio 2/My Annotations) but now when I quit AS2 and went back into it it refused to find the resources I put there. I have now used the resource manager (thanks for telling me about it) where I have found my resources in the My Annotations folder and reindexed the whole thing, but AS2 still refuses to find them. Any ideas?
Note for Promethean staff: I'd never spotted the ActivResource Manager before in the ACTIVextras menu, and although now I read the help instructions again it tells me to do all the organising in ActivResource Manager, it does not tell you how to get into it. I had assumed that I was using it down the left side of my screen. No wonder I was getting nowhere!
