hello there,

i've plugged a board into an xp pro machine and it finds a usb serial controller which it can't find the drivers for.

i've installed the drivers for the board but it still won't find it.

i have this working on nearly 20 other XP Pro machines!!!

any help appreciated

Hi

Can I suggest you contact technical support - link at top of right hand corner of this page.

It is very difficult to diagnose from "afar" - someone will talk you through the situation. It must be something slightly strange if it is working on the others  Don't you just love technology! +wave+

This is likely to be a common problem on XP - there are steps to follow in the USB Getting started Guide pdf document which will be on the install cd

Greetings from sunny Scotland!

I was having same problem. Took the advice on using the XP USB Getting Started guide. It was a bit fiddly - but it got there! Board working fine now.

once you go to "Device manager"
you'll see a yellow icon next to HID-complaint mouse
right click on it and choose update driver
then choose "No, not this time" , click next
choose " install from a list or specific location (Advanced) " , click next
choose "Don't search. I will choose the driver to install" , click next
it will show a list of driver, choose the second one "USB ACTIVboard" , and click next.

it will give you a warning message about windows signature, choose " Continue anyway"

ok, ok, pingo
finish

and make sure before doing this, you have installed the driver...

if this is not solving your problem, beat Margaret or peter :D:D

I had the same issue as the original poster. The problem for me was I had no driver for the usb>serial converter. Windows XP reports the device as Keyspan USA-19H and then fails to install a driver as it does not have a native one.

Download the driver from the following page:

http://www.keyspan.com/downloads/

High Speed USB Serial Adapter USA-19HS windows driver version 3.4 worked for me. The usb>serial adapter defaulted to COM4.

I hope this helps anyone else with the same problem.
