Activ Slate

I am having problems using my newly acquired activ slate. I have registered the device, and the battery shows me that it is fully charged, but I am not able to use the pen to interact with the board. When I call it up, there are red lines around the slate, indicating that it is activated. I have checked that it is on the channel (1) that I am using for the activ vote. I am not sure where to go from here? Any ideas?

Sometimes issues like this are particular to certain circumstances and so it is very hard to diagnose from here..
