Pen working intermittently

Can anyone help me, the pen on one of our whiteboards intermittently works. It seems to work only on various parts of the board. Only clicking on three colours of the pen and certain icons i.e., shapes etc. I have configured the pen twice, switched off and reset everything but this does not help. Any ideas?? ????
