Wouldn't it be good if there was some form of .rtf file extension that we could save our flipcharts as? In my department we have 3 different types of IWB. As I am the one developing resources in the dept I have to first create it activstudio (for me) and then in smartnotes. Obviously there would be some impact on functionality but even if it was just the pictures and text on the page that were saved and enabled writing it would be handy.

You can export your flipcharts to PDF documents, can't you???

... and you can export flips to Ppt if you really want to.... Of course you lose all that wonderful interactivity though :(

Yessum, and a bit of quality if I remember correctly.

I can understand wanting to be able to export to PDF/DOC/RTF/whatever to be able to use as training manuals for staff off-site or at a site without ACTIV-access. :)

I tend to screen shot anything I want to use in training - then I can do whatever I want with it.

Note to Margaret - would it be possible to include a shared Training Materials area on the new mywebs site? I bet we could all learn a thing or two from each other. I would imagine that there are masses of resources out there people would be prepared to share ... Just a thought +wave+

When I was wandering around BETT I asked about this sort of thing; apparently Smart Notebook can import Promethean ActivStudio files, you just have to select "all files" when you're opening a file and then point it at a .flp file.

I tried it, and it mostly works okay -- you lose links, actions, all the extra interactive stuff, but if your content's just images/lines/text/basic things, that all comes across fine and can still be moved around and edited.

So depending on how many of the ActivStudio features you're using, you could save yourself some work that way.

Thanks for this. It will be most useful

You can also work the other way & open smart notebook files from the open flipchart option in studio!
