Hi
I am creating some flipcharts for inexperienced  users of AP and although I want to integrate some of the brilliant tools and techniques that can be utilised when using AP I have forgotten how AP settings appears when initially installed/set up, particluarly with regard to -
 Automatic annotation grouping - is this set as 'on' ie. ticked when first installed?
 Show pick up handles in present mode - is this set as 'on' ie. ticked when first installed?
Hope someone can help ;)
Thanks

Hi Sarah
The default install has the following settings...
Automatic annotation grouping - is set to 'off' unchecked
Show pick up handles in present mode - is set as 'on' checked
It used to be the case in earlier versions of ACTIVprimary that the pick up handles were, by default, set to off, unchecked. This I feel was the better option as the teacher then instantly had a choice whether or not to give the children access to them just by switching between the two modes and thus removing the need to go into settings, especially valuable for a novice user. I quite liked the idea of students not seeing them when they moved objects around the board and by accident tapped the object first. I reckon the boxes/pickup handles appearing could cause a distraction for the younger ones and the temptation to mess with them instead of getting down to the task would be high. I'd be interested in your view on this, cheers
Kindest regards

Hi David
Thanks for reply and answers. :D
I have to agree with you in that I don't have the pick up handles showing in present mode on AP at school for the reason you say, unless of course I'm creating flipcharts. However on the occasions I have left the pick up handles option on, the children (Year 1) don't seem to have too many problems, just occasionally they make the image larger or smaller by accidentally dragging one of the handles - but then my class often see me create flipcharts during the lesson input (ie. as part of the lesson) so they are used to seeing the purpose of the handles and how they are used, they pick things up so quickly without us necessarily teaching them.
As I often flip in and out of using 'show pick up handles' (particularly at school) maybe that could be added to the toolbar - don't know what others think?
I also prefer to have automatic annotation grouping on - don't think I've ever turned it back off!
Thanks
