View Full Version : Question time out

Hello again
My class (and I) love the voters. I am trying to work out whether I can set different time limits for different questions in a flipchart. I only managed it by setting the timing in the settings before each question when runnning it in class. Surely there is a better way? I use AP2 by the way.

The only other way I could think to do it - is have the questions in "clumps" - a good educational word, I'm sure you'll agree! For example, have a clump of 10 second questions, then a blank page. When you reach the blank page, stop ACTIVote, reset the timing for the next clump - say 20 second questions and off you go again. I don't think there will be a way to set timings for individual questions, but doing it this way could work.

I don't use it, but I'm almost sure you can do it in AS2  Not an AP2 expert, though!

I do use it in AS2 and I can't see how you would do that. Sharon's suggestion seems to only way to do what you're asking.

Ahhh I think you used to be able to do it in AS1... !
What does the circled field (see attached) for??!

We must be looking at a different page - these are the choices I have in AS2. When I want to vary the time I am allowing for a question I usually just stick to advancing the quiz manually.
Perhaps the next version of AS will allow us to set time limits on individual questions.

You can have different time outs for different questions..2 different ways!
If you create the flipchart in question master then you can manually create different timeouts when you create the questions.
If you've already created the flipchart then right click on the flipchart page & choose Activote question settings (in studio there is an activote submenu that contains the question settings option) You can then change the timeout for each individual question on each page. You can also set the correct answer in here.
The screenshot that Charotte attached can be found in the main settings in both studio & primary. This is primarily to put a timeout on an adhoc vote, as opposed to a pre-prepared vote. By default this is set to 0 so that it never times out & the vote has to be stopped manually.
Hope this helps..

I'm looking at what Louise is talking about... right click in a blank space on the flipchart, choose ACTIVote > Question Settings.
You can apply custom timings in there.

Hi All,
First post here - and I can't find my way round to see if there was a solution on another thread?
I too have had all my names changed to initial only, and it's not their surname, it's their first name.
It used to come up with their whole first name, now it has changed to just their initial, which is confusing, as I have a lot of children beginning with the same letter!
Thanks
Martyn
