Hello, moderators and mates
I'm a new user of the Promethean boards and software in a school. As such, I've also been using the software in my personal PC for preparing classes.
My problem here is, when I started, I still hadn't got the Activprimary installation CD the company would later provide me, so they recommended I use the Flipchart Viewer for whatever I needed back then. I had no username, organization or password key for that, so I just downloaded it from PrometheanPlanet and installed the way I could and knew.
Two days after, here's my fully authorized CD, with the registration data. I remember I uninstalled the Viewer and then installed Activprimary according to a great, detailed PDF file the school provided. Since then, every time I open the program or a flipchart, the software shows me a "Software license agreement" nag screen.
You can find the screen image attached at the end of this message. It's in Portuguese, my native language.
Now, if I have a valid license and all, why is it still showing? Do you guys have any solution for getting rid of it?
Thanks a lot!
Rodrigo

I don't know the answer to your question but perhaps another solution. If you have a valid ActivPrimary serial number, you might want to consider upgrading to ActivInspire Professional. There shoudl be no charge for this since you have ActivPrimary. I use it and love it and have no nag screen. It has so many more features than ActivPrimary/Studio like drag and drop actions, rollover captioning, import from pdf. And...it has the ability to switch back and forth from a studio "skin" to a "primary" skin. You might enjoy developping flipchart while using the Studio skin but using them with your younger student with the primary skin.

In the earlier versions of ActivPrimary, the software licence 'nag' comes on the screen whenever you are using the program and you are not plugged into your ActivBoard. As Lisa says, ActivInspire is the newer version of the software (and doesn't have the nag screen either).

Thank you for your kind replies, Lisa and Rosie.
Unfortunately, I think I can't install ActivInspire, or use it for creating flipcharts. I mean, is it fully compatible with Activprimary, in terms of presentation in class? Also, I'd have to see with the school what the protocol is. I'll check with them.
And I'm using the latest version of the software. I believe it's 3.7.19 -- I'm not home right now, so it's hard to tell for sure. But it's certainly the latest one.
I'll be checking back, maybe the Promethean software developers have a workaround, an update or something else for the situation.
Thanks again!

I'm pretty sure that the nag screen was still in use with that version - sorry, as far as I know, there isn't a workaround. I think the idea was that if people didn't have aPromethean board plugged in, it was a 'gentle reminder' that they shouldn't be using the board with another brand of whiteboard.
YOu shouldn't see it when you are plugged into the board though, so if you do, you might want to contact tech support.

Thank you, Rosie.
I will contact tech support since I'm using the software legally at home and, well, of course I'll never have one of those wonderful boards at home.
There should be an option for those of us.

Rosie is absolutely right. In the previous version of AP the "nag screen" did pop up.... There is no workaround I am afraid other than downloading Inspire, but this is only the case if you are not plugged into the board. Is your board definitely switched on eek:
They are compatible in as much as Inspire will open all previous versions of AP. However, be aware that if you are sharing across the school, then your colleagues will need to upgrade too, otherwise you will be on your own....

Margaret, that's exactly my concern in terms of compatibility.
I'm sure Inspire reads from all the previous versions of Activprimary and Inspire itself, but there's a good chance that, if I use Inspire at home to create a flipchart, the version of AP we have at the school can't recognize it.
I've contacted tech support and some possible solutions/workarounds are being studied. But if you guys have more, they'll be very welcome!

Is there any reason why you ALL cannot update to ActivInspire? That would certainly resolve the compatibility issues AND you'd have many more features to use!
