When I take off my Maths teacher hat, I dabble in photography. Recently I purchased a Wacom Cintiq21UX tablet to use with Photoshop. Well it turns out that it is also excellent for recording on-screen writing using the screen recorder in ActivInspire. The tablet has a 21" screen that responds to pen input, and even my admittedly poor handwriting looks acceptable using this as an input.

FYI, my first attempt is attached. FYI again, the screen is rather dear ..

Cheers

I have an Intuous 3 (also love Photoshop & photography:-/) and wondered if it would work with my Promethean board. Thanks for letting me know!

My kids cant get enough of the Promethean Activpanel, which is essentially the same. Screen recording is great on it and if you want to capture handwriting or drawing it beats a mouse hands down!

Some of our favourite pen centric programs that are used all the time on it (These are all fantastic on Activboard too)

ActivInspire - kids use this as a general multi-media scratchpad

Pencil (http://www.pencil-animation.org/) - really nice animation program

ArtRage (http://www.artrage.com/) - The new Version 3 is fantastic. Promethean do a free version too: ArtRage for Promethean: http://www.Prometheanplanet.com/server.php?show=nav.15631

Alice 3D (http://www.alice.org/) - this is a 3D programming world that required no typing. Perfect on the panel or IWB

Sketchup (http://sketchup.google.com/) - design environment from Google - you draw the 3D shapes. Things you make can be made to appear in Google Earth.

Phun (http://www.phunland.com/wiki/Home) - a 2D physics application where you can draw shapes and apply properties and forces to them to make any kind of machine.

Geogebra (http://www.geogebra.org/cms/) - Dynamic Math and Geometry similar to Cabri, Geometers Sketchpad and Autograph

As you say, photo manipulation like Photoshop is a great experience. Pen = end of mouse?

And this is what an Activpanel (http://www.Prometheanworld.com/server.php?show=nav.18390) looks like

Very cool. I downloaded art rage; I use Painter 11 and it will be interesting to try art rage with my kids. I teach children with learning disabilities and my Promethean board has engaged them more than anything I've ever tried! (And I've been doing this a long time) Art and color really capture attention too. The panel looks interesting too. I'm trying to get funding ($150) for the next level online course so I can take things to the next level.
