I would like to have different classes registered on the activexpressions. Is this at all possible? I see where I can set up classes and select students from a database, but I cannot quite make it work. Any suggestions?

These were the steps I used w/ the voters and would assume they would be similiar, if not the same for the Expressions.
Creating User Database for Activotes
1.) Create a .csv file in Excel w/ Student ID, Last Name, First Name, Grade Level (if you want all this info).
3.) Select All > Sort (by the last name column)
4.) Open ActivStudio > Main Menu > Activote > User Database
5.) In the User Datebase Window, choose File > Import (browse for the .csv file) > OK
6.) In the next window, select what info you want in the database. These are the descriptions I assigned to each column: Student ID > Description, Last Name > Last Name, First Name > First Name, Grade > DOB
7.) You can also click on the “Descriptions” Option (just above where your imported name are now) which will show the ID and DOB info as well in the window. May be helpful when assigning students to a class if students have the same name but are in different grades.
Now, I only did this for one teacher and only one period.
8.) Choose Folder 1 and rename it—I used a teacher’s last name. Right click to rename the folder
9.) Click on Folder 2, then right click to rename. Add another teacher’s last name, etc., etc.
10.) Click on Sub Folder 1 under one of the teacher named folders. Rename it to Period 1 (or whatever you decide on).
11.) Make sure you are in this “sub folder” now (aka Period 1).
12.) Highlight each student and click on the double arrow to add their name to this folder.
13.) Repeat steps 8-12 for each teacher/period….or better yet, show the teacher how to do it. : )
If teachers now want to use the “Named Mode” option, they will want to choose the 2nd option (“Users are assigned (allocated} specific named devices in advance”). **If they choose the other option, the devices will be named with the students name and then you (or that teacher) will need to go back and re-register all the devices with a generic name again—not fun!
When activated, the student’s first initial and last name will appear at the top of the screen (at least it did for me) when the voters are activated instead of the generic device name showing up. Then you know specifically who voted and who didn’t.

For more info on working with ActivExpression, you might want to take a look at the free online ActivLearning Learner Response System course (http://www.prometheanplanet.com/server.php?show=nav.20253)! Be sure to log in before you follow the link!
If you're using Firefox and experience issues accessing the course, clear out your browsing history, restart the browser, log in again and try to follow the link to the course.
Hope this helps!

Prepare data of students
1. Input information of students in Excel and then save it as CSV form.
2. Launch ActivInspire and come to Voting Browser. Click “ Assign Device to Students”.
3. Click “Edit database”
4. Add Class- input some information of teachers
5. Import the Excel of students’ database and don’t forget to map.
6. Choose the students and add the student under the list of the teacher.
Assign device
1. Plug in HUB
2. Hand out Activotes to students.
3. Still click “ Assign Device to Students”. Choose a class, and then we can choose to assign automatically or assign by PIN if we want to see students' names.
4. We can use Setting to set Show assigned devices only.
5. Vote
