View Full Version : Activstudio 3.6 Mac - can't open flps on PC!

Hello all,

I seem to be having problems opening flipcharts made on my Mac (Activestudio 3.6) on PCs. The thing is, I could open them just fine a month ago! Any flipchart that I created up until last month opens just fine at the school, but new ones - or even old ones where I make a small change and save them now - won't open.
I get a message saying that they are an invalid flipchart that might have been made with a new version of the software whenever I try to open them at the school. I've tried my friend's PC just to double check and got the same message. Bear in mind they seem just fine on my Mac.
As far as I know no update was made on my Mac or on any of the computers at the school, which leaves me with a bunch of flipcharts I can't open, many questions and no answers.

I've tried to find a way to save the flipcharts as a different version, but could only manage to export them into htmls/slideshows...

Any insights?

Thanks a bunch!
Lily

P.S.: I believe there's a new version of the software for Macs, except I can't upgrade as my Mac a PowerPC and not an Intel processor.

Why don't you post one of your flipcharts and we'll see if any of the PC users here can open it.

Good thinking!

Here is one I updated yesterday and couldn't open in class.

Thanks!

Could it be the "colon" in the file name?

(I'm on a Mac.)

That's strange - the original file name has no 'colon', but a forward slash.
Even so, I have the same problem with other flps that have nothing 'strange' in their names.

Anyways, I've saved it again without any form of punctuation and will now try it at the school.

Could you open it on your Mac, though?

Thanks again for the help!

Looks great on my Mac! (I'm using ActivInspire though!)

I'm so sorry, Lisa - I've posted a file that hadn't been updated recently, so it's one that I'm still able to open on the PC at the school.
Would you mind trying again with this one? Just to make sure that it does open on another Mac!

Thanks again!

I'm not Lisa but it opens fine for me in both Inspire and Studio on a Mac. I just got a new pc and don't have the software installed yet or I'd try it on a pc for you too. Good luck finding your solution.
