View Full Version : Using Resource Packs

I downloaded a nice Resource Pack and imported it into "My Resources" in ActiveInspire (latest version). The different parts of the pack are in the proper place in the bottom pane of the Resource browser. When I click on an "Object" to bring it into the main page of the program it just "bounces" back to the bottom pane rather than staying put where I "drop" it. I also see that the "active tool bar" has all the tools grayed out. I have very little experience using Resource Packs or even ActiveInspire even though I have used ActivStudio for a couple of years now. I haven't found an answer to my problem looking in other areas so I thought I would try the forum. Thank you for any help anyone can provide.

Do you actually have a flipchart open for the objects to go into?
It can be an existing flipchart, or a completely new one...

Thanks for your note Hilary. I opened up Inspire as I did previously. Then I entered a line of text, clicked once outside the text, and then saved the file. Then I tried pulling in things from the Resource Pack. They didn't go back to the pane as they did before I entered the text. I don't know exactly what made the difference but it solved my problem. Thanks so much!

When part of the ActivInspire toolbar is grayed out, it means that you have the application open BUT no actual 'live' file - that can happen if you bypass the Dashboard and simply launch Inspire.
Good to know that you have the problem sorted now.

Thanks so much for clarifying that question I had about the grayed out areas Hilary. Yesterday I started writing up a set of "Notes" for myself regarding my use of Inspire because I know if I don't write down these "jems" such as this one you answered I can end up asking the same question next year. - Yes - You have it right! I just "opened" Inspire without opening a file. It makes sense that I should have everything grayed out.
