AS is only running as administrator

Hi there,

I've got a problem running ActiveStudio 3.7 Professional Edition as a normal user under Windows XP.
The Application runs quite nice when the current user has administrator rights. If you log on as a normal user, you can execute AS but after you chose a workspace-set a failure message opens which says something like ("The command "read" could not be executed in adress 0x00000043...."), if you then click "ok" AS is being closed. If you just put the message window aside and start working with AS everything runs quite nicely.

Though we're working in a school, we can't allow anybody to run the computers with admin rights. Does anybody have a clue of what might be wrong here? We've cloned the computers from one reference pc, might that be a problem?

Try running the debug version 'aspe3.5d.exe'. This might shed some light.
I have a feeling this problem may have been previously encountered and dealt with by our Tech Support team. I would try contacting them.

Yepp,

thanks, I did contact the support and got a workaround by executing "regsrv32 scrrun.dll", but unfortunately that didn't solve the problem. I then got the hint, that ActiveInspire is the new ActiveStudio and tried that instead. No more problems. Though support for Studio will end in the next future, we are going to work with Inspire, which looks pretty good at the moment.
