I use a document camera called an Elmo. I wish I could embed it's live image into a flipchart.

Attached is a flash file that I downloaded from the Forum some years ago. It may be one of Dan Bunker's gems. It can be embedded in a flipchart. There is a dropdown to select the video source you'd like to use. I hope this gives you the effect you are after.

I remember this! Does it work for you?

Hi Lisa,
I've used it infrequently and only with the built in iSight camera on my MacBook. It was part of a folder that was embedded in a flp, back when unzipping and extracting useful items from flipcharts was a breeze (and accessible even on a locked down school computer - I can't access the path Gautam shared in another thread).
If the flash file above isn't working for you, I can send you the whole folder. Just let me know.

If the Doc cam has a USB input into the computer and software to go with it, usually it will function as a desktop application. However, if the doc cam goes directly into the projector via VGA cable, it is bypassing your computer altogether and thus, not possible.
If you have the USB input, you can run it and then use Desktop Tools in Inspire to take a shot of your live image.

I've got these working in Inspire OK.
I can alsdo embed them in the page now too - this wasn't possible in AS - they had to open in a separate floating window over the flipchart.
For these to work you need a camera attached and you need to give flash permission to communicate with your camera. To do this right click on the flash file and select settings and then tick the allow and remember boxes.
You could get very creative with this idea linking in video conferencing etc.
Have you tried using Inspire 1.3 new feature to integrate to TWAIN devices like scanners and cameras and docu cams?
This should let you connect your elmo via USB and then from Inspire to use "insert from scanner/camera" and then snap the live image to your flipchart.

So I got it working with the swf file for usb cameras, but not the elmo. Thanks. I wish this was a built in feature that I could access through the insert menu. Any way I could put it there?

I'm not sure if this will do what you would like, but you can add Dan's swf to the third column of your toolbar to call it (or any app/file) up when you want it.
Another idea would be to insert it once into a flipchart from wherever you have it saved on your computer. Then add it to your resource browser to drag out as needed.
