I just received the ActivArena software. I could not read the directions because the print was so small and it looked like the screen shots were from Windows and I have a mac. I downloaded the instructions from the knowledgebase, which consisted primarily of the same screen shots. It said I should reinstall Inspire from the discs that came with Arena so that I would have Activmanager, and I had to do some sort of firmware update, which I didn't quite understand. We have older model boards..... I was leery about reinstalling Inspire because I didn't want to lose all my settings that I so painstakingly created. (o: At this point, it got to be too much for my pea brain. I think I am the first in my district to try Arena (we won the pens at a conference) but if it is this much trouble, I don't see most of our teachers being able/willing to do it.
So--do I really need to reinstall Inspire? Will I lose my settings? Can someone give me step by step instructions for Mac? I would really like to try them out!!

Don't worry. Its a pretty easy install.
Click on the ActivManager (your board should be plugged in, so it should be an icon with the Promethean logo).
Click Control Panel
You should see your board listed there. Select that and then Upgrade.
It will ask you to find the location of the upgrade file, which is on the DVD.
At some point you will also need to turn your board off, although I'm doing this by memory and cannot remember when. But to turn it off, just unplug it.
When all else is done, you will need to restart Inspire and possibly your computer as well. No need to reinstall Inspire.
From there you can go to Tools and Multi-user.
You will find more and more ways to use this great feature and you should also see more and more resources on Planet in the future.

I have my board plugged in and cannot find ActivManager anywhere--I did a spotlight search and it doesn't show up. Where do I find it? Does this mean I don't have it with my installation? I am so confused....sigh

If your on a mac it should be the promethean logo at the top of your screen

I finally had time to do the install and it works great!! I am very excited to start using it after the Thanksgiving break! Thanks for your help. Do you know where on the planet there might be templates, etc., for dual users? I saw some demonstrated at a conference a few weeks ago.

There are meny dual user templates built into your ActivInspire Resource Browser but you can also download this flipchart that has many of them.
Dual User Template Pages

Or if you prefer to have them as a resource pack, you can download them here:

Again, I think these are already in the Resource Library though.
Watch for some video Activtips soon about Dual User!
