Using the latest version of ActivInspire on Macs, one of our teachers found that his carefully customized profiles had disappeared, reverting to the default profiles. In his own words, this is how they reappeared:

"My profiles returned when I selected the Authoring profile and performed a 'save as'. When the newly saved profile loaded, my old settings returned. Strange huh? I was skeptical, so I did it again for the 'At The Board' profile. Sure enough, my 'At The Board' profile settings returned too."

Has anyone else had their profile settings disappear? We are wondering what could have caused this.

Thanks,
Nanette

We are using MACs-
Yes, I have seen this many times also. I also need to know how to make the main toolbar at the top stay in place. Where do I find this setting in Inspire? I know I can find the menu on the side toolbar, but I like the toolbar at the top to remain in place. I am encouraging our teachers to convert to Inspire, but when they can't find things they get frustrated.

I have another issue that I need help with. In ActivStudio, when you do a full screen record, you can select video settings. I can not find these settings in ActivInspire. I need to do a full screen recording and save the file in MPEG 4 Video so I can use it in iMovie. We have been sending the recording file from ActivStudio to iMovie to iTunes to create podcasts. Do you have any suggestions of how we could get this done in Inspire on a MAC? Your help would be greatly appreciated!

sounds like the profile files or the folder they are in are locked/read only
this can make it appear as though your changes have vanished. The problem being that you are never warned/prompted that the files are read only which I have raised as an issue.

However, how he managed to get them back is a mystery to me!

Can you possibly check whether your files are read-only & just let me know in case there is another problem here.

I am also having these problems but with a PC.

The program says I have the most up-to-date version. The profiles are not locked or read-only. In fact switching profiles never changed anything on my screen.
This wasn't a problem until recently when my program decided not to save my preferences at all.
Help?

I had an issue as well. I had been using my authoring profile for sometime and for no reason I lost a lot of what was customized.

I am also having the problem with changing profiles or adding a profile on a mac. My wife and I both use Acivinspire Pro on Macs with Snow Leopard. One Macbook and One Macbook Pro. The Macbook switches profiles with no problem. The Macbook Pro will not switch profiles or add a new profile. The program wants you to find the profile file, which is grayed out. It allows you to select the profile from the menu and states that it saved, but no changes. I've uninstalled and installed the program and preferences several times and ran the disk permissions utility on the Macbook Pro with no remedy. Also, I've gone into the Edit Profiles menu and no profile is show in the box on the upper left corner of the screen. When you select the box the profiles show up, but when you select one the program states "Save As" then saves. But it doesn't save. One Mac works fine the other has a glitch with switching or making a new profile. Any suggestions! ????

Update- I decided to try adding another account to the laptop and run Activinspire. All work profiles now seem to work normal on the new account. The original account on the laptop must have a corrupted file in Activinspire.
