Request from NZ teacher - could we have a snapshot button directly on video placeholder so that snapshots can be sent direct to f/c page as video plays for analysis afterwards?
Maybe 2 buttons - one to send snapshots to current f/c page ie. stack them up and second button to send snapshots to sequential new pages.
I know camera tool can be used but it means pausing video each time and activating camera tool/selecting area etc.

Hi

Actually Jon you can do this as it is running. You set the size of your screen capture and then provided you have the "add to" toolbar running next to the camera snapshot toolbar you can do this as it is running really easily.

Thats not to say that this request wouldn't be good! BUT thought I would say anyway +wave+

Hi Margaret
Not quite sure what you mean by 'Add to' toolbar - how do I get that running next to Camera toolbar?

Come on Jon keep up ;)

When you "define" or "draw around" with the camera snapshot tool a toolbar pops up offering you various options in terms of what you would like to do with your captured image.....

That's what I mean by the "add to" toolbar.

Yep - I'm with that, but not explaining the request very well.
What we are after is the ability to just repeatedly pop a button as the video plays to send snapshots to the f/c without having to repeatedly hit the camera tool button on the toolbox then hit the area option then hit the add to current f/c button.
eg if I have a video of a horse jumping a fence and I want to catch the leg action at start, top and landing I probably couldn't do the three click action quick enough - what we are after is a button on the video frame that just allows the teacher to pop/pop/pop as they are commenting on the sequence and then deal with the three shots afterwards.
Cheers

This is not a perfect solution, but it works. Having used the video placeholder to put the video clip where you want on the page, go to Studio Settings and Right button. Select Start camera tool and reduce the time before the camera starts to the shortest time setting.

Stat the video. When you want to take a snapshot, choose an unobtrusive corner and right click and HOLD the right button until you get the blue snapshot sizer. Resize to the desired dimensions and select the "add to same page" option. Move the snapshot to somewhere else on the page. For the next shot, all you have to do is click and hold the right button, then "add to same page". The new snapshot should then overlay the first. At the end of the video, the snapshots can then be arranged as desired.

Oh, and remember to reset the right button when you have finished snapshotting, otherwise you will start the camera tool every time you use the right button!:D

Thanks Sharon - that's a good 'work around'

Well it's finally here! In AS4/Inspire (or whatever it's going to be called) there is a snapshot button at the bottom of the viewer and you can happily snap away as the video plays adding as many snapshots as you want to your flipchart page.
See the new software at BETT09.

YAY - that will be great! [clap][clap][clap][clap]
One of my fave videos is Pixar's 'For the Birds'. I am already using screenshots of that in demos, but it will be good to be able to do that quickly on the fly...

How can I convert "For the Birds" or any other videos I've got in iTunes into a format I can use with Activstudio ?????

Hi gpatrenos,
If it's a video you've bought via iTunes, then it's not possible to directly use it in a flipchart due to iTunes copyright restrictions. It's the same with iTunes music, the file is protected so it will only play in iTunes (a pain I know).

It's probably easier to download it from Youtube and then play it in a flipchart. Try a forum search for YouTube, as there are various methods of doing this.
