I really like the ability to specify which PDF page to import, but I can't seem to import a page number greater than 9. Is it a bug, or is it me? (Using Inspire Primary 1.2.14501 / Vista / )

Hi-
no problems with importing large pdfs/ page ranges here, though my machines are XP and Mac 10.4. I tested importing various page ranges on some whopper pdfs (100s pages)... Perhaps some issue with a particular pdf?

Hmm. I've just tried again with a few, including the one which didn't work this morning, and all seems good now. Very strange!
I'm having trouble importing more than one PDF at a time on a Mac. Is this possible?

You should be able to import a multi-page pdf as well as import a pdf to add to an existing flipchart (that may already include imported pdf pages.) Are you having an issue with this?

Does anyone know how to import the PDF and have it look like the PDF in the view of 150% or large size so that you can read the text from the board? I know you can choose to import a custom size, but what would the size need to be? I wish it had settings like the PDF with view 150%.

You could use the camera tool to take screenshots of the increased view, or re-size the imported pdf when it's in Inspire. Select the marquee tool and drag the 'handle' on the bottom right of the imported doc to increase its size whilst maintaining proportions.

Attached you will find a flipchart that I created by importing a pdf at original size.
As many pdfs are designed "tall" or "portrait" (versus your Activboard's landscape size) , it will show on your Activboard in ActivInspire too small to read as you explained. However, if you change the page view to "fit to width" (top right of ActivInspire) the page will show much bigger and you can then scroll up and down to display the pdf one section at a time and annotate as desired.
Alternatively, you could use the camera tool to capture wide rectangular portions of the pdf on each page. (split it up.)
See the Activtip called PDF Pieces to see how that could work.

I have attached both the flipchart and a screenshot.
Hope this helps.

Thanks Lisa. I'm trying to import more than one pDF at a time. Is there someway to select 5 or more pdfs and import them all at once?

I think being able to import PDF's is an absolutely wonderful time saving teaching tool. It seemed in Studio, the PDF's were automatically locked on the page. If I had to rotate or move the page, I had to unlock it. The pages do not appear to automatically lock in Inspire.... am I missing something? I am working on a Mac.

Yes, I believe your are right. Each page contains on image of the pdf for that page and it is not locked. However, if you right click on the image, you should be able to lock it from the menu.

Help! Has anyone ever had the problem of when importing a PDF into Inspire you get a blank document? I know the PDF came in onto the page because I can select it and move it around. However, it is white/blank and I can't read it. I know the PDF is good because I can view it in a PDF reader.
Any ideas would be MOST welcome!
PS-I am using a Mac with Leopard.
