I started using Activstudio in the fall of 2006 and have activotes registered since that time to my board. No 'hub' is needed for my activotes to work.
I recently have downloaded the ActivInspire software (while still keeping activstudio loaded--for the time being). It looks as though my votes do not transfer to the new software, but when going to register them, it instructs me to register them to my 'hub'. I of course do not have a 'hub'. Does anyone have any ideas about this???

Your hub is that little USB contraption with a little antenae that plugs into your computer. Activotes don't work with a hub. They have to have something receive the information and relay it to the software in the computer.

I know what a hub is....others in my building that received their boards and votes 2 years after me, are required to have one in order for their votes to work. I do not plug anything into my computer with an antennae, and my votes do work.
You will first need to connect your computer to the Activboard.
Then open Inspire and change the default device from Activexpression to Activote.
Then you can use the device registration screen to register your Activotes. Once you complete that your device registrations will be saved to your computer. But to make your activotes work , you will still need to connect your computer to the board since your votes are the older ones without the Activhub.

I guess I am a bit confused.....wouldn't my computer already be connected to my board--I use it daily.
Also, when I go to change the default.....I only have the first 4 choices under 'answers' and there is no scroll bar for me to get to others. So I am unable at this time to change the default.
Any other ideas?

to get the other options described you will need to upgrade to the latest version
however, this shouldn't stop you registering.
Have you tried registering them or did the word hub put you off?? if you haven't tried it then give it a go & let me know how it works out.
