Does anyone know how to create a grid from scratch which can be placed in the Shared Grids. I know that previous discussions have looked at creating a grid and putting this in Shared annotations but what I want is a true grid that can be dragged onto a page and the Snap to Grid and Grid Mask features will work with.

I know you can edit a grid from the Shared Resources but the only option seems to be to change the line colour of all lines.

What I'm trying to do is create a grid which can be used as a template by other teachers for lining up page elelments. I would like a line representing the left margin of the page for users to snap all text boxes to and align them. I also want a top margin for snapping headings to.

I know there is a developers version of AS2 and maybe this is what I need to create templates.

Any help or advice would be appreciated.

Not definate but I think you might be right when you implied that it's only available in Developer Edition. I hear it's in Beta?

This is maybe not quite the solution you want, but it would work in the short term. By the way, as well as changing the colour of the lines on a grid, if you double click on the grid and the use the + or - buttons, you can enlarge or decrease the spacings between the grid lines, crosses, dots, etc. Put the "Snap to" finction on.

Once you have created the size of grid of your choice, open the Resource Library and then the Shared or My Page Library. Right click to "Add to Library" Give your page a name. You can then either drag it from the library each time you want to use it, or drag it onto your tool tray for instant access.
Hope this helps.

Thanks for the suggestion Sharon (I forgot to mention the increase/decrease size editing feature - I did try this but this wasn't able to give me the level of control I wanted).

I guess I'll have to take a look at the developers version - I'll put a post up here if I find that you can edit grids or make templates using it.

Thanks for your comments too Dave

Hi Kevan

Have you tried the Grid designer tool in DE yet?
