Indexing will not hold

For some reason my indexing will not hold any longer. I have to reindex every time I use the program. I remember at a training I attended someone have the same problem and the train did tell them how to correct the problem. Anyone have any idea how to get the indexing to hold?

I thought it was just me! My indexing hasn't been working right for about a week, and it seems to just "hang," taking forever to complete.
