My son's teacher has given some homework on a file with an *flp extension. Along with the note below to "simply" download the software to read the file. the only thing like a “Personal Edition” I can find to download is 287MB. I can't believe that I would have to download and install this monster to look at my 12 year old's homework.

Please tell me how I can open this file or should I ask the teacher to send it in a usable format.

Thanks

Thomas

If you are having trouble opening documents in the lessons tab it is probably because you do not have activestudio on your home computer. Please try the following steps to ensure that your child can access the notes.

ActivInspire software download: Forsyth County has upgraded from ActivStudio to ActivInspire. Please download this new software in order to view flipcharts. Parents can download the “Personal Edition” for their student’s use at home from the Promethean Planet (http://www.prometheanplanet.com/) site. It is easy to find as Promethean has put it on their main menu bar:

Home > Members > Resources > News & Events > Professional Development > Shop >Support >Download ActivInspire

Parents will need to register on the site first where they will be prompted to answer some questions.
Then they will proceed to the link for New Users (http://www.prometheanplanet.com/server.php?show=nav.17012). They may purchase the ActivInspire Professional Edition; download a 60 day trial, or Personal Edition free of charge by clicking the appropriate link for them!

One alternative is to ask the teacher to export the lesson to .pdf for the students to access.
That won't have any of the interactivity of the original flipchart file created in the ActivSoftware, but will have all the images and text.

You mentioned the file extension is .flp - that suggests that the lesson was created using ActivStudio3 rather than ActivInspire.
However it sounds like future lessons will have the .flipchart extension, which can only be opened using one of the versions of ActivInspire (Personal or Professional).

is the flipchart veiwer still available? If no, it would be useful for hildren at school- we have our flipcharts available for children to access at home if they want to. Up to now they have used the viewer, but I am guesing it doesnt work with Inspire?

What is the extension for ActivStudio flipcharts? What is the extension for ActivInspire flipcharts? I have noticed that things created and saved in ActivStudio open and can be used in ActivInspire. However, anything saved in ActivInspire has not worked with ActivStudio. Is that correct?
thanks!

ActivStudio .flp - can open in Studio, Primary or Inspire
Inspire .flipchart - can only be opened in Inspire

The flipchart viewer (can only open .flp files) has been replace by the Personal Edition of ActivInspire (can open .flp and .flipchart).
