I loved activstudio version 3. I teach upper level high school math courses and found it much more user friendly. How do I go back to it now? Do I uninstall Inspire?

Unless you uninstalled version 3, it should still be on your computer.:) When Inspire downloads, it does not write over ActivStudio. hth...

In the first time, i was feeling like you but now i love ActivInspire too much. I suggest you to use some period of time then decide whether you still don't want to use it. It looks like complicated but actually it is not.

I felt the same way when I switched to Inspire, but after I got into it and learned how to navigate it, I can't even look at v3 anymore. What turned the tide for me was seeing someone who knew Inspire, and her showing me how it worked. Once I saw it all, I was hooked. If you can't find someone, go to the tutorials online. Though there is a learning curve, it's so very worth converting. Best of luck to you.:)

As mentioned below, just stick with it. I think we all had a learning curve and now we have trouble going back to V3.
This is especially the case if you use ActivExpressions, which integrate so seamlessly with Inspire. In the future, many of our newer products will only work with Inspire, such as ActivArena (dualpen), Self-paced Expressions and other novelties.

I know exactly what you mean, mgwaltney. We have moved completely to ActivInspire at my school, and it is a huge task to convert all my lesson flipcharts. It's so frustrating when actions no longer work, text is all over the place, and favourite resources appear to have disappeared. And don't mention the frequent sudden crashes!

Our IT director doesn't use it, so he's unsympathetic to colleagues' issues with Inspire.

Reading posts on this forum from experienced users complaining that they have lost valuable work doesn't help!

But like other posters here, I'm building my confidence. I don't like it yet, but I'll get there.

Good luck!

I feel the same way. I guess I just love Activstudio to much... But time to time I give ActivInspire a chance!

I would agree with everyone on here. While I was looking forward to aspects of Inspire (like not having to have two applications open to use expressions), I was a little frustrated early on. I am still frustrated periodically as I have to figure out where things there are or things that worked in Studio that currently aren't in Inspire right now.

I have found a couple of tools that make my like SO MUCH EASIER now that while I loved Studio, I wouldn't go back even if I had a choice. Property Browser (CAPTIONS feature) and moving things around in layers makes everything go so much faster.

If there are specific things that you are having trouble with, make a list on here to see if 1) someone has already solved that problem and 2) to make the programmers aware of it for future updates.

If you have any v3 flipcharts that are causing you problems when you import them then post them up here. We have done a lot of work on improving the import in the latest 1.2 release but if you're still experiencing problems then we want to know about it.

Hey, Melissa, Gene here. I love AI. Being a new major release, it still has its quirks, but there are so many advantages to it over AS. When you have some time, please give me a call and we can discuss your questions/issues/challenges, maybe through a web conference so we can be looking at the same pages.

I like ActivInspire and but I think there are a number of ways that AS was better;
1. When writing a flipchart I like to use right click, Paste etc. I can't do this in AI.
2. In AS I can right click - paste and then have the option to paste as text or as I picture. I don't seem to have the option to paste text which means I find myself writing in AS and then importing into AI, bery time consuming.

I'm sure many of my problems will be solved with increasing competence, just need more time to practice.

What I came here to find out was this;
When I open a file and save it after use it saves a second file, this is 4x larger than the original so my pen drive is rapidly filling. Opening each file , converting and deleting the original is very time consuming, is there an automated way of doing a number of files at once?

Actually, you can right-click in AI; you just have to make sure you have the Marquee Select tool chosen when you do. From there, you'll get a long menu of options.

As far as text and images, when you copy something in AI, it appears to handle it in a more conventional Mac or Windows manner, in that the copied item goes onto the one clipboard, and you then paste it when you're ready.
