Hi,
I'm a technician supporting many schools who use Promethean boards, however I'm getting more and more issues with the Board and Windows XP either giving BSOD's (Blue Screen of Death) or reboots when it gets to the log in screen.
I know this is caused by the system trying to start the ACTIVdriver service on bootup. I've contaced Tech Support who are aware of the problem and provided me with a "fix"....only its more of a work around whereby the service is started manually by a Batch file in the users startup area as they log on.
Which is great, if everyone logs on as Administrator - but as the teachers can't be trusted as an Admin user let alone the pupils - I get them to log on as a "limited user". Limited users, however, do not have permission to start services, so they cant use the boards.
So you can see my problem. Either no board, or give everyone free reign as an Admin user...not a good idea! It affects RM Windowboxes, plain XP's with either SP1 or SP2 - however its not ALL pc's so there must be a specific configuration issue which I have yet to track down.
I've spent alot of time with the Tech's over this but I think they ran out of ideas, so I wondered if anyone had any ideas. I've seen this mentioned before on these board so I know I'm not alone...
Any suggestions? Thanks in advance!
Matt
