Hi, we're totally new to using Promethean this year and the software. I'm looking for a way to use math spinners that our curriculum uses them with Inspire. Loving the fact that I can import PDFs in, I can get many of the math games we use into flipcharts, but occasionally the spinners that are called for might have, for example, 4 spots that are labelled 6-9 on the spinner instead of 1-4 or some other number set.

I'm trying to find a spinner that is customizable in that way and can be used similarly to the type that come with Inspire like "Wheel of Fortune" which allows you to choose the number of segments (great!) but not what appears on them ().

I thought it would be great if I could just embed a mini webpage into a flipchart, because then I could use something like the little applets you can use at NLVM, like this. http://enlvm.usu.edu/ma/nav/activity.jsp?sid=nlvm&cid=1_1&lid=186

Is there any way to do that (or are there spinners with this level of customization)? It would make it possible to put the exact spinners needed for the games onto the page as needed (or open up a world of possibilities with beign able to embed webpages into the flipchart)...

Hi,
Will these work ?
These spinners are customizable and embedded inside a flipchart.
Two versions: one for studio and one for Inspire.

Quite some time ago now - Seabass, who was a regular contributor to the forum, shared a customisable spinner.

I've put a background on it - but it's pretty much the same.

In Inspire you can embed the text file that controls the spinner segments into different pages and it'll remember the settings if you save the text file on each page, so you could setup different spinners on different pages.

Thanks for the input, Dan & Gautam!

It seems like both examples have great potential. That text file makes it look like you could have whatever number of spinners at whatever percentages you like. The ability to customize a spinner to have specific texts in the spinner is also something I'm looking for. The best would be the ability to combine them though. For example, if that text file also had some piece (or another text file) that allowed you to choose what text appeared on a spinner segment, that would perfect it for our purposes.

I wish I had the ability to program things like this so I wouldn't have to ask for them. I have no idea how to make those multimedia pieces though. Again, thanks for sharing these, I'll definitely keep them in mind.

By the way - and I don't know that anyone will be able to help with this part, because it's about forum design/ease of use, but...

It took me a while to find my post again. I think it would be helpful to have a "my posts" link somewhere on the form home page to quickly navigate to the questions you started, or maybe my subscriptions could be linked on the front, while your thread creations are added automatically (or maybe even your replies...). That would let people remove them after they have their answer, too. Also I have a tough time figuring out how to make new posts as well when I enter the forum (other than replying). I know it's probably really basic, but I have a tough time thinking I'm the only one.

Thanks,
