Embedding a sound file

In Activstudio, I used to embed sound files from my teacher resource cds so that I would not have to pull out the cd every time I needed it. I haven't figured out how to store the song in the flipchart. I tried using the store in flipchart selection, but it doesn't appear to work. Any suggestions?

Go to Insert>Link>File and find the music file you would like to embed. After the file is selected, It will then give you the option to store the file within the flipchart. This can be done with music, videos etc.

I did that but for some reason it keeps trying to read the file from the cd, even though I said store in flipchart. Is it a me glitch or a program glitch?

I just tried it here on a mac and it worked ok for me.

You need to make sure you use the Insert menu, then choose Link then choose File
Once you select the file go down to the section where it says 'Store as' and select Store file in flipchart.

You might have to "extract" the music from the CD first as a file. But I'm not sure what kind of application you would need to do that.

Ah true, it might depend what type of sound file it is and whether its protected with DRM (Digital Rights management)

I only used an ordinary MP3 file when I just tried it.

Yes, you need to get the audio off the CD first, just linking to the CD from Inspire will not do the job.

You might want to try audio grabber, freeware:

it can rip to wav or mp3

WIndows Media Player can also rip CDs, but I avoid using it because it's a very bloaty piece of software.

Most CDs don't have DRM, thankfully :-)
